Visit our website www.idsnewcastle.org to find out all about our society. The International Development Society (IDS) is an entirely student led organisation based at Newcastle University. We actively promote international development on campus and aim to educate students, staff and the public of Newcastle about issues which face the global community. IDS hosts a series of events and talks through
out the year to achieve this. Our flagship event is the annual International Development Conference, held in February, similar to events held at Oxford, Cambridge and Warwick Universities. The conference aims to educate, inspire and raise awareness about global development issues by bringing together a diverse audience; students, academics, field practitioners, global organisations, politicians and journalists. As a society we aim to raise awareness about other issues around the world and hope to keep international issues on the student and university agenda. Our Society Aims
- To educate members about key and current issues in International Development
- To create opportunities for individuals to contribute to the work of international development organisations
- To actively raise public awareness
