Take Away The Tears

Take Away The Tears Take Away The Tears was set up in July 2015 to support rescue dogs still looking for their forever home. Together we make a difference.

Take Away The Tears is a Registered Charity (No. 1196042), dedicated to supporting dogs and other animals that have been abused, neglected or abandoned, by providing much needed supplies to the volunteers who rescue them. We had our first fundraiser in August and immediately began donating to those that rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals. In 2021, having supported many rescue organisations bo

th here and abroad, Take Away The Tears was approved as a registered charity, in recognition of the work we do. Not only are dogs supported, but cats, horses and even small furies and hedgehogs. Brexit and the changing environment changed the emphasis of Take Away The Tears to our overseas beneficiaries, from donating goods, to donating funds, so our fundraising events are now even more important than ever. Because of the work of the charity, our support also encompasses the areas of:

Food poverty - by providing pet food to food banks, we help keep pets in a loving home rather than be given up to rescue. Providing pet food means more funds available for the family table. Sustainability & the environment – we provide a means for people to recycle items that would normally just be thrown away, thereby reducing their carbon footprint and preventing items from going into landfill

Work & opportunity – we provide volunteering opportunities in a number of areas. This allows those out of work to add valuable experience to their CV’s, and provides those that cannot work in a conventional setting the opportunity to still get out of the house and provide support to us. Community – we provide a community hub when the warehouse is open, allowing those with children and with dogs to meet up in a safe and welcoming environment to enjoy coffee, cakes and a chat. We need your support and would be pleased to hear from you if you'd like to help us in any way.

That’s 5 pallets ready to wrap and ship. The three large ones are going to PUMA for Ukraine. The small pallet of just tins is going to a sanctuary in Devon and the remaining pallet is also going to a different location in Devon for onward transportation to dogs in need.

All thanks to your support. Thank you to everyone who has donated for the pallets to be loaded and the transport costs to be paid for.

From a van load of donations, plus a donation of food straight to our packing area - to three pallets in about three hours. There’s another van load to transport, including more food, metal crates and plastic beds, so it looks like another pallet will be needed. Thanks for all those that have made this next donation run possible so quickly after the last.

The last pallets we sent to plymouthukrainemedicalaid reached Ukraine this weekend. You can just make out two of the pallets on the wagon that’s ready to be unloaded.

And we’ll be loading at least two more pallets for Ukraine this week as the back of Sue’s van shows 😅. We’ve also got a child’s scooter, a baby bouncer and a disability walker to add, along with a big bag of lovely soft toys, collected this afternoon from a lovely family in Morpeth. We’ve more food donations being received this week and so we’ve donations going to Romania next week too. Our thanks as ever to our charity partners, and to Jollyes Newcastle - The Pet People and Jollyes Hartlepool for their continued support. It is hugely appreciated.

In this last week we’ve also supported a UK rescue on the brink of running out of food, and we have continued the support our ‘cemetery cats’ in Cyprus.

THIS WALK HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

GSD Northumberland Walk Group have very kindly organised a fundraising walk, with ourselves as the beneficiary, for this coming Sunday at Warkworth. Details are in the link.
