Tyneside Outdoors (TO) is a Youth and Community work Charity based in Tyneside, that engages young people in informal education through out-of-doors activities. Tyneside Outdoors (TO) is a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) set up to help people from disadvantaged areas to access and enjoy the outdoors. TO provides a professional Youth and Community Work service to residents in

disadvantaged areas of Tyneside through: youth groups for young people, to get out and enjoy their local green spaces and a range of out-of-doors activities, to assist their personal development; older adult groups to help people develop and maintain an active out-of-doors lifestyle.

We love helping young people to get active outdoors and it's great to see our work at our T O bike. shop is making a difference to children and young people in local charities and schools in South Tyneside.

The shop is a development of our Temple Raiders work. We needed somewhere local to Temple Memorial Park to do our bike repairs out of the rain and cold and to store our tools and spare bikes. It's now a great community resource helping local people stay active on their bikes.

Sadly, we missed the eclipse tonight due to cloud cover. This was the last we saw of the sun. We did however, get to fix a couple of bikes, play on the Slack Line and play some Tennis and Badminton.

It was nice to meet up again with Ian, and his wife, from Tyneside Rotary Newcastle as they paid a visit to our TO Bike shop in South Shields.

Tyneside Rotary Newcastle supported our young people to take part in 's Race Around The Region last winter and also helped to buy some new BMX racing helmets for the team. We hope to be joining in the fun again this winter with some new members and maybe win a few more medals, and hopefully a trophy or 2!

Time for a cuppa? Well, if you've got time, then maybe you might also like to consider helping TO out, quite literally!

As a charity that aims to help people in disadvantaged areas of Tyneside to access and enjoy the outdoors, we're always in need of support. In particular, we're really keen to recruit some new trustees to help us take advantage of our current opportunities and help us to create new ones. If you have skills and experience in finance, business, marketing, youth and community work, education, social work, or a range of outdoor careers, then you'll be a great asset to our charity. A doubler! Only just, though! We were presented with a great show tonight in Walker Park, with this beautiful double rainbow. It did come with the obligatory shower of rain, which quickly passed with the strong winds we had. Other than a howling wind, it was a quiet night in Walker Park.

We have a new (dumped?) bike in our shop, not this one, found on King George Road this morning. It has a broken rear wheel, so could be disowned by someone? If you're missing a child's bike please get in touch with a description of the bike and we'd be happy to reunite you with it.
