We've had a couple of very busy nights of bike repairs in Hodgkin Park and Walker Park this week. The strange sight of alien equipment, a bike repair stand, being set up in the park, was a big attraction for some of the young people. At one point we had 3 young people crowded around the empty stand as if it had some magnetic field drawing them to it. We just need to get them using a few tools now!

Quite a few happy young people with bike repairs completed, and some not so happy that we didn't bring a whole workshop of tools with us.

However, we also had some great fun playing Badminton, Frisbee, Football and Slack Lining. We also have a few young people, and staff trying hard to ride our unicycle.

We're big fans of cycling facilities for young people. Good luck to the local community involved in this.

There are still some showers around and we seem to have our very own Eeyore cloud over Hodgy Park tonight. It's not shifted for a while now, akthough its nit the hailstone stuff we saw earlier.

You can see just how crap the weather got. At 8am, as we started, it was light drizzle. We hoped it would brighten up in a bit, and there was some sign that it just might. However, that passed and by the end we had proper rain, making every downhill stretch a freezing blast of over 20mph cold air rushing through your soaken clothes.

All that said, we did enjoy the day, and most of the ride. All this on old bikes that looked massively out of place among the highly expensive glide-machines

We did it! In the cold and rain!! Not helped by people telling us "It was 21° last year"! What scenery we could see was great, and the route was lovely to ride, even the hills, even the big one. However, the rain and cold got to us in the end, dreading every downhill, because it would mean getting even colder, and wetter.

We were very grateful to the event organisers, marshalls - with their flapjack and Jelly Babies/Beans, and the great hot food at the end in the auction mart.

Thank you to all our supporters who have donated on our fundraising page. Thank you!

We're proud of our youth work in Newcastle and South Shields, getting young people to enjoy their outdoor spaces and try new activities. We received an award from the Tyne and Wear High Sherif in March, for our work engaging young people in positive activities.

However, funding to keep our youth work activities going is extremely hard to find, yet we know youth work works!

Please support our Youth Workers, Abbey and Gerard, on their Wooler Wheel on Old Bikes challenge, to raise funds for our youth work activities.
