A small group of us enjoyed an evening of candlelight crafting organised by Discover Jesmond 1888 in the beautiful St George’s church in Jesmond.
We had great fun creating needle-felted pumpkins 🎃 with Crafted By Amy and we also had time for a little shopping - beautiful gifts from MaakMaak and Crafted for Love.

The WI is delighted to be taking part in 's Women & Girls Match Fund: https://donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05WS00000GLdgHYAT

For one week only, every pound donated to our No More Violence Against Women campaign will be matched.

This funding will help us to:

· Train WI members to become No More Violence Ambassadors.

· Develop new educational resources and campaign materials.

· Increase understanding of domestic abuse, including coercive control and other non-physical forms of abuse.

· Equip members with the confidence to speak about violence against women in their communities.

· Support members to organise awareness events, talks and local activities.

· Encourage community action during the UN's 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.

Well done to Helen P and Jackie who took part in September’s WaterBlitz, organised by Earthwatch Europe.
The tests the quality of local waterbodies, such as rivers, canals, streams and ponds.
It’s the UK’s biggest citizen science freshwater survey and it provides vital data.

During our September AGM Helen P also revealed the results of the sunflower competition. 🌻
It was a tough year for growing things, the sunshine, heat and slugs all proved to be tricky.
However there were some very worthy winners, and everyone who took part received a beautiful keepsake.
