We had a great morning at the International Women’s Day Breakfast alongside incredible women from different sectors, connecting, sharing stories, and celebrating the work being done to support women across our communities.

Thank you to Smart Works North East for creating such a welcoming space and for highlighting the important work being done across our region to support unemployed women into work, including insights from the 2025 Smart Works Unemployment Index.

We’re especially proud that our Director, Faty Kane, was part of the panel, sharing her sense of purpose and her insights on supporting women, challenging barriers, and advocating for women’s rights.

It was inspiring to hear stories and real journeys from such incredible women, including Kacie Elson, Kay Hussain, and Rebecca Wilkie.

A great way to kick off the International Women’s Day celebrations!

🌙 Ramadan at Angelou Centre

At the start of Ramadan, we distributed around 100 food parcels to women in our community, supporting them during this important time

Last Friday, we hosted an Iftar gathering for women staying in our havens. Women came together to break their fast, share stories, laugh, and simply be in each other’s company.

It was a chance to feel connected and supported during Ramadan, a reminder that no one has to go through it alone. It also showed how powerful it is when women come together to support one another. 💜

Today, our Training Wellbeing and Outreach team attended the Connect to Work Community of Practice event organised by the North East Combined Authority.

We loved meeting other local organisations, sharing what we do at The Angelou Centre, and learning about the amazing work happening across the region to support people into employment.

Lovely to start some new connections and keep building better support for women. 💜
