When most people think of conservation, they picture wildlife surveys, habitat management and fieldwork. But behind the scenes, good conservation relies on good data.

Northumberland Wildlife Trust's Data Group brings together colleagues from different teams to improve how data is collected, stored, shared and managed across the organisation. From developing data standards and improving workflows to reducing duplication and sharing best practice, the group helps ensure that information remains accessible, consistent and useful for the long term.

By improving the way we work with data, we're helping to build a stronger evidence base for nature recovery across Northumberland.

Drop by St Nicholas Park to find out what creatures are lurking in the shadows! Learn ghoulish and grim facts about bats, bugs, and deadly plants in this spooky scavenger hunt. Head down to The Owl Tree Community Nest afterwards for a sweet treat (no tricks). 🕷️🍬

This is not a scary event! Suitable for the whole family, with different difficulty levels to challenge both older and younger children. Recommended for ages 4+. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Please wear clothing and footwear suitable for the activity and the weather.

Part of our Championing Nature Project, a new programme aimed at creating positive, lasting impact in urban communities through greater connections and engagement with nature. Made possible by Wimbledon and Emirates partnership.

What does a bee, a river, an ancient woodland and your morning cup of coffee have in common? 🤔

Well, they all depend on nature. 🌳

Governments from around the world are meeting at C*D COP17, to discuss how we can protect and restore nature before it's too late.

It may seem like a conference that has little relevance to the UK, but the decisions made there could have a real impact on our wildlife, rivers, woodlands, coastlines and communities.

Nature is declining at an alarming rate, but it doesn't have to be this way.

Because protecting nature isn't just about wildlife. It's about the places we love, the food we eat, the water we drink and the future we all share 💚

Healthy rivers are essential for people, wildlife and the economy. Yet pollution, habitat loss, development and climate change are placing increasing pressure on some of our most important waterways.

Our new Rivers 2040 report, developed by The Wildlife Trusts, Trent Rivers Trust and Intact Insurance, explores what's possible when we invest in restoring nature at scale along the River Trent.

The findings are clear:

💧 Every £1 invested in restoration could deliver £7.33 in benefits
💧 Natural flood management supports communities, wildlife and economic resilience
💧The cost of doing nothing will continue to rise
River restoration isn't just good for nature. It's an investment in cleaner water, reduced flood risk and healthier communities.

Read the report and discover why investing in nature is one of the smartest investments we can make for the future of the UK. 👇

Pollution, drought and flooding are becoming more common. Wildlife is suffering, communities are literally paying the price - and too often nobody seems to take responsibility.

The water system isn't working.

Fix water, and we will fix so much more – pollution, flooding and drought, food security, our health, our economy AND nature’s recovery.

We're calling for three essential and urgent reforms:
- Water management within local control
- Water companies that work for nature recovery
- Water to be treated as critical national infrastructure

Your MP can help make this happen.
