🚨 Grant Round 8 is now closed for applications! 🚨

A huge thank you to everyone who submitted an application to our latest funding round.

We're delighted to have received so many inspiring proposals from organisations working hard to make a positive difference in communities across the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire.

✅ Assessments are now underway, and our team will carefully review each application against our funding criteria.

We look forward to sharing the outcomes and celebrating the projects that will receive support through this round of funding.

When severe weather or power disruptions occur, community spaces can become a vital source of support.

That's why our Energy Resilience Fund supports projects that help communities stay safe, connected and prepared when they need it most.

🏃‍♂️ Good luck to Gilles as he takes on the Great North Run this weekend in support of the Northern Powergrid Foundation!

Having grown up in Venezuela, where power outages were a regular part of daily life, Gilles understands first-hand how important reliable energy can be.

🔥 The Warm Spaces Support Fund is reopening! 🔥
From Wednesday 9 September, community organisations will once again be able to apply for grants of £250 to £1,000 through the Northern Powergrid Foundation's Warm Spaces Support Fund.
Following our pilot programme, we've expanded the fund to support more organisations:
✅ Funding available across all Northern Powergrid regions
✅ Annual income eligibility increased to £50,000 (if application volumes are high, organisations with lower incomes will be prioritised)
✅ Supporting organisations operating in the most deprived communities in England (IMD Deciles 1-3)
This funding is available for organisations that already run an established warm hub or warm space which provides:
🏠 At least one session each week during the winter months
☕ Access to a hot drink
🪑 A warm, safe and welcoming place to sit
📣 Evidence that the service is promoted to the local community
You do not need to be registered with the Warm Welcome Network to apply, but you must be able to show evidence of the warm space being available to those who need it.
📍 Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
📅 There is no fixed closing date.
⚠️ This pilot is limited to 60 applications and may close once funding has been fully allocated.

🥫 National Food Bank Day | 4th September 🥫

Today, on National Food Bank Day, we're recognising the important role food banks play in supporting people and families experiencing hardship within our communities.

While the Northern Powergrid Foundation does not provide grants specifically for food banks, some of the community organisations we support deliver a range of services that include food bank provision. For example, Redcar Baptist Church , a Foundation grant recipient, runs a food bank alongside other community activities that support local residents.

Food banks are often part of a wider network of community support, helping people access practical assistance, advice and a welcoming place to connect with others during difficult times.

We'd like to thank the volunteers, staff and organisations working tirelessly to support those facing food insecurity and to strengthen communities across our region.

💡 A Light in the Village When It Matters Most
Thanks to a £20,000 grant from Northern Powergrid Foundation, The Netherton & District War Memorial Institute has transformed its village hall into a more sustainable and resilient community asset. The project has funded solar panels, battery storage and a standby generator, helping the hall reduce energy costs while ensuring it can remain a safe, warm space during prolonged power outages.
For this rural community, the hall is much more than a building. It is a place where residents can come together, access support and find reassurance when they need it most.
