What do we do? CHUF raises vital funds for large and small pieces of equipment, facilities, aftercare, salaries and research. Who are we? How can you help?

CHUF’s charitable activities, however, go far beyond that of providing medical equipment and personnel. The Charity provides holistic care to the children by providing services and facilities that allow heart children to develop their skills and mature as any healthy child normally would. CHUF supports children and families who receive treatment by the Children’s Heart Unit based at Freeman Hospit

al and the many hospitals providing care for cardiac patients throughout the North of England. The Children’s Heart Unit at the Freeman hospital is one of the world’s leading specialist centres for children and babies born with, or who develop, heart conditions. The unit is just one of two in the UK that has the facilities and skills to offer paediatric transplant and bridge to transplant operations. As a result, the Children’s Heart Unit treats critically ill babies and children from across the UK. There are lots of ways you can become part of the CHUF family. Registrations for our Wave of Love event are now open ❤️🌊

Join us this August as Heart Families come together for a very special afternoon of remembrance, reflection and connection.

Wave of Love invites families to place flowers and personal messages onto a heart sculpture before it is carried out to sea, creating a beautiful shared moment to honour loved ones gone too soon 🕊️

Every week, Chuf’s incredible Clown Doctors arrive ready to turn fear into laughter, tears into smiles. ❤️

For Heart Heroes spending weeks, months, and sometimes even years in hospital, those moments can mean everything. Whether it’s a silly song, a magic trick or simply sharing a smile after a tough day, the Clown Doctors bring comfort, connection and happiness not only to children, but to siblings, parents and staff too. 😊🙌

The Clown Doctors have helped families find light in some of their darkest moments, creating memories filled with warmth, kindness and joy along the way. ✨

As we get ready for our 2026 Toddle, we'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us with this year's event.❤️ 🫶

Superheroes are one of a kind and so is Louie 🫶

At just a few months old, Louie underwent open-heart surgery at the Freeman Hospital after doctors discovered a large hole in his heart and a leaking valve.

During surgery, surgeons found the hole was as big as a 50 pence piece, incredibly large for such a tiny heart 💖

Louie's family described the care they received as “unbelievable”, and were able to stay close by at Scott House throughout his treatment.

Now, Louie is thriving. He loves football, running around with friends and is a huge Marvel fan, with his scar reminding him just how strong he is, just like his favourite heroes 🦸
