Get ready for the 13th - 20th May - the week that hope built!
A Million Acts of Hope is a national invitation to celebrate the everyday acts of kindness, care and connection happening across the UK. At a time when division can feel loud, we want to bring together all these everyday acts of hope and shine a light on the people and communities making them happen.
Head to www.millionactsofhope.org to get involved.
Because hope always counts. But this week it gets counted.

Tonight is Comic Relief! This video is an example of the brilliant work they do around the world.

'“Ever since I was a child, I’ve wanted to help the people of my
country in times of crisis. The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is the best organisation for this.”

Promila, her daughter in law Mita, and her granddaughter Pyushi had built their lives across generations in Southeastern Bangladesh. Their home was a place of shared meals, family routine, and the small everyday moments that make a life feel steady.

But in August 2024, devastating floods tore through their community. Rising waters forced families to flee, destroyed farmland, and swept away the family’s home, along with most of their belongings. In a single night, everything changed.

Amid the chaos, youth volunteer Julhas stepped forward. He had admired the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society since he was a boy, and during the floods he became part of its rapid response, an effort funded by Comic Relief. Through their vast network of volunteers, they reached families quickly, focusing first on the essentials like clean drinking water, food, safe shelter.'

Comic Relief can continue funding life changing organisations like the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, ensuring families affected by crisis have the support they need to rebuild, recover, and move forward with dignity.

Sharing a brilliant post from Veterans Can… on LinkedIn.

‘Paul Taylor MBE shares thoughts and memories of providing humanitarian assistance to those who needed it in Ukraine - an unfinished mission for Matt and the UK as a whole.

Many Veterans are involved in doing good things all over the world, simply because it matters and it's the right thing to do.

We are proud to share their stories and remind society that international aid matters and the Veterans who give up their time to deliver it matter too.’

What would you lose if progress on women's rights disappeared? For the people in this video: education, career choices, bodily autonomy, safety.

Progress they thought was permanent.

None of this is guaranteed. Right now, funding for gender equality is being cut and women's rights are being rolled back.

What progress would you hate to lose?

Words are more than just definitions, they are the rights and freedoms we live by every day.

But the meaning of these words isn’t guaranteed. Every right we have today was hard-won by the campaigners who came before us. We’ve spent decades defining what progress looks like. Now, we have to make sure it doesn't slip backwards.

Swipe through our Progress Dictionary to see what these words mean for women and girls globally. 👉

We all know the word. Let’s protect the meaning.

Decisions are better when they include everyone, and Jennifer shows us how women stepping up makes politics more accessible for all of us.

Protecting this progress is about making sure our leadership stays fair and reflects the communities they serve. What's a positive change you've seen from having more diverse voices in your area?

🔥 THIS THURSDAY. ONLINE. 6.30PM 🔥

The climate is already changing faster than anyone expected.
2025 has smashed records, provisional Met Office figures show it was the warmest and sunniest year ever recorded in the UK. People can feel it, but politics and campaigning are struggling to keep up.

So how do we actually build climate support that cuts through, locally, credibly, and at scale?

Join us online this Thursday for a sharp, practical session with Meg O’Neill, Head of Movement Building at The Climate Coalition 🌍

Meg will talk honestly about how climate campaigning is changing, what is genuinely hard right now, and why the movements that win are rooted in what people care about close to home, families, jobs, neighbourhoods, pride in place 🏡

This is not slogans or theory. It’s about how change actually happens, what works, what doesn’t, and how people like you can get involved in ways that feel hopeful and effective.

If you’re active in campaigning, community organising, volunteering, or just want a clearer sense of how climate action can break out of the bubble, this one’s for you.

A message from the Climate Coalition!
'Every February 14th, people across the UK make and share green hearts to show what’s at the heart of the future they want to protect. You can send a green heart message to your local leader, sharing what’s at the heart of their community and what they want to protect.

Show the Love is a simple act of care - rooted in pride for our communities, care for the places we love, and hope for the future we’re building for our children and grandchildren.

This year, we’ll be celebrating the progress already happening in towns, villages and cities across the UK - people restoring nature, improving local places, cutting pollution and protecting the wellbeing of their families and neighbours.

Because at the heart of a healthier, fairer, safer future is climate and nature action - and climate and nature action is at the heart of stronger communities, better livelihoods and a secure future for the next generation.

More details coming soon. For now, save the date and get ready to Show the Love

The progress women and girls have fought for didn’t happen by accident. It was built step by step, decade by decade — by people who chose to stand up for fairness, safety and opportunity.

And throughout so many of these milestones, the UK played an important part. Standing shoulder to shoulder with women and girls across the globe, the UK has invested in education for girls. Championed gender equality in international forums. Backed organisations supporting survivors of violence.

But today, in 2025, progress is stalling. Rights are being rolled back, not only far away,
but here at home and across the world. Cuts to ODA are putting crucial services - and
millions of lives - at risk.

Today, on Human Rights Day and the close of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence, the UK to choose allyship again: to restore investment, re-commit to global partnerships, and stand with the women’s rights organisations working daily to protect lives and futures.

We must — because equality can’t wait. Will you join us?
