Most people have heard of the Ouseburn, and know that it flows beneath a part of Heaton. However, it isn't the only burn to flow through Heaton.
Read our article to see pictures of Heaton's other burn, find out where it runs, and discover if you live on one of the streets that was build above it.

The Ouseburn is a familiar and much loved feature of East Newcastle which, for much of its course, forms the boundary between Heaton / High Heaton and Sandyford / Jesmond. But how many of us knew that another burn once meandered through the township?

If you regularly read the Evening Chronicle you'll be familiar with frequent speculation about a new stadium. This is nothing new, and in the 1950 the paper carried plans for an 86,000 capacity stadium in Heaton.
The proposed site of the stadium was to be land reclaimed after filling in a river valley. Read our article to see pictures of the valley being culverted and what Heaton looked like at the time as well as finding out about the stadium plans.

There were once plans to build a large stadium, along with new streets in Heaton. See the plans, read about the history of the site and what's there now.

In the spring and summer of 1910 the brutal murder of a colliery wages clerk from Heaton and the subsequent death sentence of the man found guilty of the crime (also formerly of Heaton) gripped the nation. When Clement Attlee set up a review of capital punishment some 40 years later, this case was one which informed the Royal Commission. And it has fascinated writers and dramatists to the present day.
In our article we examine the case, paying particular attention to the Heaton perspective.
