Help Shape Your Annual Report 📝🏡

Every year, Newcastle City Council’s Housing and Communities Directorate produces an Annual Report for tenants and leaseholders. The report explains how we're performing, how we're spending money, what improvements we've made, and how we're responding to tenant feedback.

As we begin planning this year's report, we'd like your help to shape it.

We've launched a short survey to find out:
• What information matters most to you.
• How you'd prefer to receive the Annual Report.
• Whether you've seen previous reports.
• What questions you'd like answered.
• How we can make future reports more relevant and useful.

We're also looking for tenants who would like to take part in a small engagement session during the week commencing 10 August, where we'll discuss the report in more detail and explore what good tenant reporting looks like.

Whether you're a regular involved tenant or have never read the Annual Report before, we'd love to hear from you.

Creating job opportunities for council tenants! 🙌

Meet Kim, a Newcastle City Council tenant who is now thriving in a job within the council after receiving dedicated support from the council’s Employability Team.

Kim is one of the many council tenants who has been helped to secure work through our Your Homes Your Jobs (YHYJ) programme. She had struggled for a number of years with health issues and left feeling devalued. Thanks to support from our Employability Team, she took part in a YHYJ course where she was helped with applications, interview skills and positive thinking, securing a position at the first opportunity.

After completing her YHYJ contract, she secured a full-time role within the council and is continuing to thrive.

🗣️ Kim said: “After being unable to work for over ten years due to ill health, I reached a point where I wanted to rebuild my confidence and ease myself back into employment.

“I was introduced to the Your Homes, Your Jobs scheme and was offered a placement. It was invaluable. Not only did I learn so much, but I was surrounded by an incredible team who were supportive, patient, and always willing to help. They never made me feel uncomfortable about asking questions and played a huge part in rebuilding my confidence and skills.”

Now more tenants can follow in Kim’s footsteps as our next YHYJ course is starting next Monday, with a number of administration roles available within the council.

Our blocks have secure door entry systems to help everyone feel safe at home.

Please don’t let anyone into the building unless you know them, and avoid allowing people you’re unsure about to follow you inside. We understand it’s not always comfortable to question others, and there’s no need to do so.
