What a start to the autumn half term!
Our alternative education groups have been tackling climbing walls, solving escape rooms, baking, and having brilliant group discussions. More than just fun, it’s been amazing watching them build positive relationships, improve communication, and grow in confidence.
As we wrap up the term, we’re keeping the momentum with some more engaging and youth led activities and discussions. Watch this space 👀

Huge shoutout and massive thank you to HorsePower Fitness and all the incredible members, together, the team ran a staggering 428 miles (285 laps) all in 24 hours and raised over £400 for Foundation Futures! 🏃💨
Your energy, sweat, and determination are making a real, tangible difference in supporting young people and empowering our local community. We couldn’t be more grateful you all proved what’s possible when people come together for a cause.

Five years ago today, we lost Mark, a truly special part of our Foundation Futures family whose memory remains deeply woven into everything we do.
Today, our hearts and warmest thoughts are firmly with Mark’s family and friends as we remember the incredible person he was and the light he brought into the lives of those around him 💚.
To honor Mark and continue the legacy he left behind, we are so proud to relaunch our Mental Health Hoodies, featuring a brand new logo designed by Mark One87 | Mural, Graffiti & Community Artist in his memory.
Every single hoodie sold directly funds our work supporting young people’s mental health, ensuring that no one ever has to walk through the dark alone.
They will be available to order in the next few weeks via our website.
Thank you for standing with us, remembering Mark, and helping us protect and uplift the young people who need it most. 💚

Paid placement opportunity at Big River Bakery 🍞

Looking to build your confidence, learn new skills and get paid work experience close to home?

We’re working with Big River Bakery on a new 6-month paid placement in Byker for a Facilities Coordinator.

The role will support their new community space, helping keep it welcoming, safe and ready for activities, training and employment support.

What’s on offer:
✅ 9 hours per week
✅ Flexible hours, Monday to Friday
✅ Full Food Hygiene training provided
✅ No qualifications or previous experience needed

This could be a great fit if you enjoy working with people, are organised and are happy to learn as you go.

Interested? Come along to our information session at the Spires Lane hobby room on Monday 5 October. There’s also a CV workshop on Wednesday 7 October to help you get ready to apply. Timings will be confirmed when expression of interest is sent.

The newly refurbished hobby rooms on the Byker Estate are ready to open!

Join us on Tuesday 29 September 2-4pm for an explore around these fantastic new community spaces.

Start your journey at Spires Lane with Big River Bakery where you can get involved in some baking themed activities and print your own Byker postcard with a local artist.

You can also have your say on what Foundation Futures will use the space at Spires Lane for.

Before you leave, make sure you collect your hobby rooms map. This will help guide you to the next room and you can get it stamped along the way so you can claim your free sweet treat from 66 Raby Street.

At St Michael’s Mount you can meet our first ever artist in residence. Lucy will be helping the community to make a banner that will be displayed in her hobby room.

Then head on down to 26a Raby Way which is the Byker Estate’s very own Community Archive. Learn about the history of the estate and get stuck into a tile making workshop.

Your final stop will be 66 Raby Street which is the new home of Byker Community Coop, where you can get your final stamp and claim your free treat.
