Connected Voice

Connected Voice Our organisation has been supporting the voluntary sector and communities of Tyneside since 1929. We amplify voices. We champion equality. We inspire change.

At the heart of voluntary and community action in Newcastle and Gateshead, we want to improve the quality of life across the region and work towards a fairer future for all. In our 90-year history we have helped to establish well-known charities that are still thriving today. From individuals to organisations, we believe everyone has a right to be heard. Trusted to listen, understand and advocate,

we strive for excellence. We’re open and honest, we stick by people and give our support to ensure their voices are heard. We believe that diversity should be celebrated and valued, and everyone deserves equality. Working towards a fairer future for all, we won’t stand still. By making an impact on causes big and small, we want to improve the quality of life across the region. Courageous, resourceful and determined, we are not afraid to challenge unfairness and ask difficult questions. Working effectively and accountably to instil confidence. We aim to become stronger and more sustainable to inspire positive and lasting change throughout our community. We support action. We understand from our own experiences the challenges people face. We truly value people and we don’t judge or dictate. Leading independently and side by side with our communities and partners, we share our resources, skills and expertise to enable people to take meaningful action. We connect people. At the heart of voluntary and community action for 90 years, we are immersed and rooted in the North East. We work collectively and inclusively to connect, grow and strengthen our society. We are warm and approachable, and we create opportunities to exchange ideas, learn from and empower one another

A huge thank you to everyone who joined our third Haref Network Meeting of 2026 at Grainger Hub ! 🀝

Together on the 13th August, we explored the theme "Helping Each Other: Working Together to Support Healthier and Happier Communities", hearing from speakers from Newcastle City Council Public Health and Safeguarding Adults, West End Children's Community, and Newcastle Libraries.

Our Haref Network is made up of groups and organisations led by ethnically marginalised communities or have a specific project for those communities, based in Newcastle and/or Gateshead.

The event provided valuable opportunities to share knowledge, strengthen connections, and discuss how organisations can work together to improve health, wellbeing, and support across Newcastle for ethnically marginalised communities.

Find out more about our Haref Network on our website here πŸ‘‰https://www.connectedvoice.org.uk/services/haref/haref-network

A fantastic piece from Gateshead Council Learning and Skills featuring our very own Bradley! πŸŽ‰ He is an integral part of our Support and Development Team and we are so proud to have been able to support Bradley on his apprenticeship and career journey so far πŸ’œ

πŸŽ“ A Level Results Day is a moment many young people have been working towards for years. While university is often presented as the next step, it's important to remember that success doesn't follow a single path.

For Bradley Moss, university never felt like the right fit. Instead, after leaving sixth form, he chose a Business Administration apprenticeship with Connected Voice, delivered by our Learning and Skills apprenticeships team. A year later, he's gaining valuable workplace experience, developing new skills, and making a real difference through his role supporting Our Gateshead.

When Bradley first considered apprenticeships, he admits he knew very little about them.

"When I thought of an apprenticeship, I just thought of construction. No one had really taught me otherwise."

After doing his own research, he discovered opportunities that combined learning with hands-on experience, including within the charity sector. Through the support of both his employer Connected Voice and Gateshead Council as his apprenticeship provider, Bradley has been able to earn while he learns, building practical skills and knowledge that he can apply every day in the workplace.

Since joining Connected Voice, Bradley has grown in confidence, developed expertise in data management and digital systems, and become a valued member of the team. He's also seen first-hand how his work can support local organisations and help connect people with activities, services and opportunities across Gateshead.

"Growing up, I always wanted to do something that helped people. Being here, I'm seeing the effect that my role and the whole organisation have on people's daily lives. It's incredible."

As students receive their results today and consider what comes next, Bradley's story is a reminder that university isn't the only route to a fulfilling career. Apprenticeships offer the opportunity to gain recognised qualifications, earn a wage, develop workplace skills and make an impact from day one.

Read Bradley's story and discover how an apprenticeship could help you find the path that's right for you, in the comments. πŸ‘‡
