Did you catch Mark and Aaron's kidney transplant story on BBC News?

Mark's kidney function had fallen to just 7%, leaving him facing the prospect of life-limiting dialysis treatment or a kidney transplant, before his 'hero' son, Aaron stepped in to donate a kidney.

Mark has shared the wonderful news that his transplant has completely changed his life for the better, and both father and son have recovered well and returned to work.

"As a boy he used to say I was his hero, but now the tables have turned...he's my hero, without a shadow of a doubt." - Mark

Aaron highlighted the incredible difference the transplant has made to his dad's life, and encourages others to consider donating:

New research: Could urine hold the answers for rare kidney disease diagnosis and care?

Professor John Sayer, Dr Praveen Dhondurao Sudhindar and the team at Newcastle University, have shown that by studying urine from patients with a rare kidney disease called nephronophthisis, could help improve understanding of the disease and test treatments that may protect the kidneys.

This could make such a difference to patients. Looking at kidney cells in the urine is completely non-invasive, and it could help researchers identify new treatments for nephronophthisis in the future.
