A huge well done Suzanne Jones!! Suzanne wanted to do something for her son Aaron.

"It would have been his 30th Birthday this year on the 25 November. All his family and friends would have been making plans to have the best party and raising a glass. Unfortunately that will never happen. To honour Aaron’s 30th Birthday, I’m taking part in the 2 Valleys Trail Event in Keswick which is a 21k run. It’s going to be so emotional on the day. I just hope I do my boy proud 💙

I just want to say to every single person who took the time out of their day to send messages of love, support and sponsorship whilst I took part in the 2 Valleys Trail Run (22k) A HUGE THANK YOU!!!It was a deeply emotional but amazing day and one I will never forget. I knew our boy was with me the whole way !! Knowing my family were waiting for me at the finish line, and constant phone calls throughout the run, spurred me on.

I can’t believe how much has been raised in memory of our son, Aaron. What a way to acknowledge what would have been his 30th Birthday in November. For that, I can only THANK YOU ALL ❤️ Sponsors currently amount to an incredible ……£2,335 - totally blown away as I never thought I would raise anywhere near that! 📊The results are in for the Bubble Foundation's Steptember Challenge 2026.

Forty one participants spanning three continents have collectively stepped 12,192,180 steps - the equivalent of 5,433 miles, or from the Great North Children's Hospital to Mexico - marking our largest step challenge to date.

This remarkable achievement has so far resulted in raising £4,149 from 191 individuals, contributing to the awareness of childhood immune deficiencies and helping to improve outcomes and care for affected children.

🏆Our winning team with the most steps is the Holistic Striders!! Congratulations Team! This is a team made up of Play Specialists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Psychologists and you've done yourselves, and everyone else proud!

🏅A close second is Team PK, who were fundraising to make Stem Cell Transplantation and CAR T therapy safer and more effective, helping patients get the right amount of medicine known as chemotherapy for transplant and CAR T.

To all teams and to all solo steppers - Thank you so so much. You've really blown us away this year. You can expect a personal email from us very shortly so keep an eye out in all your inboxes, until then, your leaderboard is below from what steps could be pulled in x

“On October 4th 2026, I will be running the half marathon at the AJ Bell Great Scottish Run. I will be running for the Bubble Foundation charity, which is a charity very close to our hearts and family.

On the 9th of June 1992 my Auntie Linda and Uncle Paul were blessed with the arrival of my baby cousin Amy Paula Jain. Sadly Amy was born with Oesteopetrosis, an extremely rare inherited disorder whereby the bones in the body harden.

Nowadays stem cell transplantation can cure the condition but 34 years ago a bone marrow transplant was the only option.

Families travelled from all over the UK and beyond for the treatment at the The Bubble Foundation’s facilties at The Great North Children’s Hospital, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne including Paul, Linda and Amy.

Linda’s bone marrow was a match for Amy but unfortunatley complications arose following the transplant and my cousin Amy sadly passed away at 6 months old on Boxing Day, 26th December 1992. Our family have stayed close to The Bubble Foundation ever since.”

Nine months spent in Aberdeen undergoing endless tests and scopes revealed Ross had autoimmune enteropathy and was transferred to the GNCH in Newcastle where the decision was made to list him for stem cell transplant. He spent a year as an inpatient in Newcastle, and eventually we travelled home in 2017 after nearly 2 years of hospital care.

To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Ross’ transplant, Morag is taking on 10 events to raise funds for the unit that supported him. Her final challenge in October will be the biggest of them all: a 50k trail run from Brodie Castle to Inverness Castle, alongside the running buddies who have supported her throughout the years. It’s a huge challenge, but a very special way to mark 10 years since Ross’ transplant and give something back to the unit that has been such an important part of their journey. 💙

Natassia, mum of Brooklyn has written a lovely book - The Boy Full of Magic. It's a children's book about a boy who has a stem cell transplant and gets "magical" powers to help others to feel better. It's available to purchase on Amazon worldwide!

"Brooklyn was diagnosed with CD40 Ligand Deficiency when he was only 8 months old and had a stem cell transplant when he was 15 months. Seeing Brooklyn go through this was scary but he was so so brave and our little superhero, as are any child that go through transplants. I wanted something I could read to Brooklyn now he is starting to understand a little bit about what he went through. As well as this, Brooklyn is doing really well medically but still struggles with eating and relies on a feeding tube and you rarely see books with children who have medical procedures like this or even have feeding tubes and I wanted him to see someone who looked like him." 💙

Throughout September people are stepping 10k steps a day for children and families going through stem-cell transplants. One of those people is Laura.

🏆 Laura has just taken the title of queen of consistency. People ebb and flow, they go up and down. Not Laura. She’s the most consistent stepper in the challenge - the steady Eddie of our group. Her highest and lowest days are only 2,209 steps apart. Congratulations Laura, you have won a lovely community prize - a mystery gift from the James family, in memory of Nico James 💙

After working with families on Ward 3 for 10 years - Laura is now Play Team Lead at GNCH 👏

"I am taking part in the step challenge because the bubble foundation and ward 3 will always be close to my heart, having worked on the unit for 10 years. The children and families deserve all of the extra help and support available and it wouldn’t be achievable without charitable supporters and donations! "
