Delivered in partnership with Stepney Bank Stables to celebrate their 25th anniversary, come along to next week's Summer Walk and discover the vital role horses played in shaping the Valley. This walk will explore how horses powered industry, transported coal and goods, and kept the city moving during the height of the industrial era. We'll also look at how the role of horses has evolved over time- from hardworking labourers and wartime companions during WW1 to today’s sporting, leisure, and therapy animals.

Lead by Dream the Pony. Dream is a Shetland pony. She is 19 years old, and loves to be scratched 🐴🐴🐴

Whilst putting together the 25/26 Annual Report, we came across some pretty mind boggling stats about the impact of our Environment volunteering. Over 95 sessions throughout 2025, volunteers gave a total of 1780.5 hours of their time to looking after Ouseburn's green spaces- that's 75 full days!

29 of those sessions were focused on litterpicking, which equates to 1.87 tonnes of litter collected, based on an average amount collected per hour- that's around 19 baby elephants! (very official measuring term)

To anyone who's given up their time to volunteer with us - be that in a planting session, business volunteering day or litterpick- thank you so much, your work makes a real difference.

This walk is led by Sue Syson, a longstanding Ouseburn Heritage Walk and Victoria Tunnel Guide with the Ouseburn Trust. She is currently chair of the Ouseburn Trust Heritage Theme Group.

Our most recent blog post shines a spotlight on one of our Business Partners and supporters: Rounton Coffee Roasters. Alongside sharing some photos from their most recent volunteering day with us, we caught up with Founder and Director of Rounton, David Beattie, about the organisation and their ethos, and their decision to join the Business Partnership Programme.

Next weekend we have David de la Haye joining us in the Victoria Tunnel for a performance unlike anything we've hosted before, pioneering underwater recording in freshwater habitats to create an immersive soundscape experience.

Hydrophones lowered into rivers, ponds, and lakes reveal the hidden sounds of aquatic life - then improvised, glitchy electronics reimagine them in real time. What emerges is neither nature documentary nor abstract experiment: it's biotic sound suspended in ambient atmospheres, punctuated by sudden bass eruptions and asymmetric rhythms. With airplay on BBC Radio 3 and Radio 4, and performances across Europe, each set draws the listener into uncharted territory: delicate, surprising, and utterly alive.
