Newcastle Carers

Newcastle Carers We are a charity supporting adults, children & young people who care for someone in Newcastle. A safe space for carers to talk, be heard, and supported.

Do you look after someone who needs help and support regularly? If they could not manage without your help, and you are not employed to do this, then you are a carer. Anyone can be a carer, at any time in their life. We support carers of all ages looking after a friend or family member who is ill, disabled, or has mental health problems or addiction linked to drugs or alcohol. At Newcastle Carers,

we know how hard it can be to look after someone, and we’re here to help with information, advice and support. Newcastle Carers Centre is based on Shields Road in Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne, and we provide information and advice services in the community around Newcastle for carers to get the right information and support to help them in their caring role. Visit our website to find out more about how we support adults, children and young people in Newcastle > www.newcastlecarers.org.uk. We are here to listen and support carers. To talk to someone about your caring role, call our Carers Information Line on 0191 275 5060, 9am‑5pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 1pm‑5pm on Tuesdays. We are closed on Bank Holidays. PLEASE NOTE: our page is NOT regularly monitored. Meet Colleen - a carer who looks after her son.

Colleen came to us looking for support, and we were able to help her whilst listening to her needs. This included chatting over video calls and providing information in an accessible way.❤️

If you're looking after someone in Newcastle, we're here to support you in the way that is best for you.

Pilates and meditation can help carers ease tension and give you a chance to unwind and breathe.🧘

Here's a sneak peek of our free Pilates tutorial and meditation guide, kindly created by Emma - a carer registered with us.❤️

Emma also runs free Pilates sessions at our centre - come along to the next one on Wednesday 9 September.

"Gannin' along the Scotswood Road, to see the Blaydon Races."🎶

We recently enjoyed a tour of the Victoria Tunnel, learning about its history and hearing stories of Newcastle's past.

Some carers also enjoyed a sing-along to Blaydon Races whilst walking through the tunnel!

Our groups are free for all adult carers and young adult carers to attend; join us for different activities and the chance to meet and have a laugh with other carers.❤️
