It was a privilege for us to attend an inspiring discussion with Kim McGuinness- North East Mayor and Sara Davies MBE , celebrating the ambition, resilience and future of the North East.

Listening to two such passionate and driven women speak about leadership, opportunity and making a difference was incredibly motivating.

Kim has supported our family and Samantha's Legacy from the very beginning, and for that we will always be grateful. We know first-hand the genuine passion and commitment she has to making the North East a better, safer place for everyone. She continues to be an inspiration to us
It was also wonderful to hear Sara share her journey and the importance of believing in your roots while striving for success.

A fantastic evening filled with meaningful conversations, new connections and a reminder of what can be achieved when people come together with a shared purpose. The future of the North East is certainly in good hands. 💙

This is extremely alarming. The beautiful weather has attracted large numbers of people to our beaches, and with the Bank Holiday and half-term break, there is also an increased risk involving teenagers gathering in the area.

It is heartbreaking to learn that some young people may be vulnerable due to intoxication, drugs, or other safeguarding concerns. I completely understand why members of the public may feel unable or unwilling to intervene, especially as reports state that someone who tried to help was attacked.

As a parent, I urge everyone to check where their children are. If they are anywhere near this area, please go and collect them immediately. Your child’s safety must come first. Use location apps, call them, message them — whatever it takes to make sure they are safe and accounted for.

We were at Cullercoats Beach last Sunday and were given a “Your Guide to Having Fun and Staying Safe” booklet by the RNLI Lifeboats 🌊💙
Working with young people every day, whenever they mention heading to the beach with friends, my worries instantly set in. Water can look fun and harmless, but dangers can appear so quickly.
With half term approaching, please take 5 minutes to go through some basic water safety advice with your children and teenagers before they head out with friends. It really could save a life.
⚠️ Never underestimate the water
⚠️ Don’t go alone
⚠️ Know the dangers
⚠️ If in trouble — FLOAT TO LIVE
⚠️ In an emergency call 999 and ask for the Coastguard
A huge thank you to the RNLI for the incredible work they do every single day 💙

Lee. 🤍

Nine years tomorrow since you left us and joined our darling Samantha. We tell ourselves she needed you… but the truth is our hearts break for you both every single day.

Today is about being together sharing memories, laughter, tears and love. Because when life hurts this much, family becomes everything. Through every heartbreak and every difficult day, we carry one another, just as we carry both of you with us always.

No matter how much time passes, your names will forever be spoken, your memories forever treasured, and your places in our family forever filled with love.

A special thank you to CBK Adventures for helping us bring our little artwork idea to life. 🥰 Something so simple, yet something that means so much to us as a family. Thank you for your kindness.

Forever loved. Forever missed. 🤍

Pretty annoyed as a parent today to be honest.

My 13-year-old son got the Metro from Wallsend to Monument this morning with his bike to go meet friends before heading to Callerton metro station for a bike ride around ponteland . He had a valid Day Saver ticket, was wearing his helmet and was literally just excited for a day out on his bike.

When he got to Monument, he was refused permission to continue his journey because of “incidents with young people on bikes around town.”

I completely understand there’s been issues lately and I fully support action against antisocial behaviour… but not every young person is the same.

James was on his own, polite, respectful and doing absolutely nothing wrong. Instead, he was left upset, stranded in town and needing collected despite paying for his travel.

We’re constantly telling kids to get outdoors, stay active and keep out of trouble… then when they actually do, they get judged anyway.

I’ve contacted Nexus to ask what the actual rules are regarding bikes on the Metro and why a responsible young person was denied travel because of assumptions.

Surely we should be encouraging kids out on their bikes, not making them feel like criminals for it.

I know this is just one incident involving my son, but it’s really frustrated me how quickly all young people seem to be judged because of the actions of a few. There are still plenty of respectful, responsible kids out there who deserve to be treated fairly not automatically viewed as a problem.
