Dorcas Crafts

Dorcas Crafts We make gifts, by hand, to sell for charitable causes We produce our handmade gifts to sell, so that we can then donate money to charitable causes.

We have a heart for social justice and compassion. We may be a small cottage industry, but we are doing what we can to help others, in the UK and around the world. We welcome new crafters into our community organisation, so we can all work together to make a difference. Wherever we can we recycle or upcycle fabric or yarn. This often results in many of our products being unique, once-off items, wh

ich cannot be replicated. As we make everything by hand and there are only a few of us, we do not have big stocks of goods. We are able to accept commissions for our products, tayloring them as far as we can to your needs or make them to match your own colour schemes or accessories. But often the fabric or yarn we have in stock is limited so we can't guarantee to meet all requirements. You can also learn to make your own gifts. We can teach you how to knit or crochet - thus passing on our enthusiasm for designing and making our own products! Come along to our community handicrafts group - JesCraft - which meets weekly on Wednesdays 10am-12noon, in JesSpace on the upper floor of Jesmond Methodist Church, above Cafe 1901, St George's Terrace, Jesmond (see www.jmc-newcastle.org.uk). The primary focus of much of our activity at JesCraft is our Knit4Africa Project, where we make jumpers and blankets for children in Africa. Members also make stuff for themselves or for friends and family, too. All are welcome - novices or experts. Please contact us for more information about our activities.
