Later today we will be saying a final farewell to Andy McLevy, a club member for over 40 years and a brilliant field birder. Andy’s name has graced the pages of bird club bulletins and annual reports more times than we can count and he’ll be remembered as a genuine, helpful man who enjoyed sharing his time and the birds he and others found with so many other birders. Our thoughts are with Viv and family today and in the future.

Our next Indoor Meeting is on Thurs 12 March, the speaker is Cain Scrimgeour on "Wild Ouseburn". Sense 2024 Wild Ouseburn has undertaken an urban rewilding project. Join Cain to discover the project and hear about some of the highlights – from a Yellow Browed Warbler to nesting sand martins to the use of acoustic monitoring.

Our next Indoor Meeting will be at our usual venue of Northern Rugby Club, Gosforth, on the 8th January 2026. Our guest speaker will be Club member Tim Daley on "Ducking and Diving - and a bit of Swanning around". He will be telling us about his work on looking at some of the duck populations in Northumberland (remember his work in the bulletins), plus an update on the Whooper Swans in the county with the International Swan Census coming up on the 17th January 2026.
