A huge shoutout to Chris from Belly Of The Beast for putting together what is going to be a superb event this weekend in celebration of the Sandwich.!

Come along for a free, daylong party celebrating the mighty sandwich, featuring some of the region's best sandwich slingers all in one place.

🥣 Could you lend a hand on Monday nights in Benwell? 🥣

At our FoodCycle Benwell project, we serve up delicious, free community meals every single Monday evening. But to keep those hot plates moving and the warm conversations flowing, we need friendly faces in the kitchen and out on the floor!

That’s where you come in.

We’re on the lookout for new volunteers to join our fantastic team. Whether you’re a total beginner in the kitchen, a hosting natural, or just someone who wants to give back, we’d love to have you.

Where: FoodCycle Benwell, Cornerstone Centre, 62 Benwell Road, Newcastle, NE4 7TU

When: Mondays, 5:00 PM – 8:30 PM

The Goal: Cook, chat, serve, and help keep our community meals running smoothly.

Volunteering with us is flexible, rewarding, and a great way to meet new people while supporting your local community. You don’t need any prior experience—just enthusiasm and a willingness to roll up your sleeves!

🌱 Community spirit at its finest! 🌾

A huge thank you to a wonderful local retired couple in the North East who recently dropped off a massive haul of home-grown fruit and vegetables at one of our FoodCycle projects.

Their garden has had an amazingly bountiful harvest this summer, and rather than letting any of that wonderful fresh produce go to waste, they decided to share the love with their local community.

There is something deeply heart warming about people nurturing their own patch of land and immediately thinking of how they can use it to nourish others. Thanks to their kindness, these fresh, locally grown veggies went straight into our delicious, hot, community meals last week in Grindon, Sunderland 🍽️💚

🍲 What’s Cooking at FoodCycle Benwell?
Monday evenings mean one thing - incredible food, great company, and zero waste! Our wonderful team of volunteers are busy in the kitchen every Monday evening whipping up a fantastic three-course vegetarian meal, completely free for the community.

Take a look at what was on the menu recently:

Starter: A comforting, warming Tomato Lentil Soup 🍅

Main Course: A delicious, aromatic Vegetable Peanut Curry served over a bed of fluffy rice 🍛

Dessert: A sweet treat of fresh strawberries served alongside a selection of cream cakes and eclairs 🍓🍰
