Our Scouts had an amazing weekend away staying at Great Tower, Windermere. They explored Great Tower, but the highlight of the residential was canoeing the entire length of Coniston Water including an explore of Peel Island.

Thanks to the leaders (especially Jim for all his planning) and the parents for all their help over the weekend.

Well that's our West Hall camp done and dusted (and all packed away) for another year. Two enjoyable days full of activities to keep our Cubs and Beavers busy. And the weather gods smiled on us again.

Thanks to all our parent helpers over the weekend, as we couldn't run these camps for the young people without their help.

Back in May the Beavers attended the District Beavers 40th Birthday party in Jesmond Dene. We took a load of photos for the photography competition and submitted them. Well, we won!! 🤩

When leaders for the 100th attended the District AGM and awards ceremony it came as a massive surprise when we got presented with this certificate and trophy! 🏆

Tomorrow 7th September is our AGM. 7pm at St George's URC High Heaton.
All are welcome to attend as we reflect on the last year and look ahead to the 26/27 year.

We are desperately in need of new adult volunteers across the section - without more help we will be in serious danger of closing.

100th Newcastle need Volunteers!

There are many different roles we need to fill to ensure the group’s future life.
Without more help we risk closing!

We are a lively and popular group that has been running in High Heaton since 1933!
We currently have over 80 local children on the unit but need more adults volunteers to continue operating.

Tonight 22 Cubs alongside Leaders and Helpers descended on Paddy Freeman's Park to litter pick! We found many cigarette ends and a couple of empty cans but the dummy and large blue plastic netting were the most exciting!

The evening was finished off with a game of rounders and badges being awarded - including 1 cub who has achieved their Silver Chief Scout Award!

Well done everyone!

This half term The Cubs section is working towards their Athletics badge!

We have enjoyed a games night at the park - competing in team events and games.

Last week we spent time designing sports wear and medals, followed by arts and crafts and finally looking at different equipment needed for sports activities.

Cubs that brought in equipment talked about their sport, what and why they did it and some gave a demonstration 😁.

We also talked about the different staged sport badges that can be done as part of their sports clubs.

This week the Beavers inished off the Navigator badge stage 1 with some orienteering and basic map reading skills in Paddy Freeman's. We looked at map orientation, and location finding.

Meanwhile Cubs had a games night!
A fun packed evening of:

* Heads down, thumbs up
* Human skittles - pushed on a skateboard
* Dodgeball
* Indoor Hockey
