When a child or young person is diagnosed with cancer, families experience a shift in how their unit works and many parents have to take time off work to become a carer for their child.

As part of Carers Week, we're raising awareness of the families who are affected as a result of childhood cancer and how, through the funds raised by our incredible community, we are able to support them.

One of which is by providing family respite breaks to Center Parcs in Whinfell, Cumbria, giving families the opportunity to make happy memories together outside of the hospital wards.

As it can be an incredibly difficult and stressful time for everyone in the family, offering families this short respite is a really important part of supporting them in their cancer journey.

"Autumn really loved this holiday and it gave us a chance to feel like a family again. I felt like her Mam for the few days we were away and not just a care giver to her." - Louise, Autumn's Mam shared following their family's break.

We're still riding high after the excitement of Sunday's Children's Cancer Run! πŸ™Œ

Thank you to the many thousands of you who came and ran for, cheered, supported, fundraised, and donated to our cause. It's because of your support that we are able to spread awareness and raise an incredible amount of money each year to support local families affected by childhood cancer and continue to fund revolutionary research at Newcastle University.

We're busy counting up how much has been raised on the day, but with lots more donations still to come in, you will have to keep your eyes peeled later in the year for our final total! πŸ‘€

And it wouldn't be a round up post without sharing a huge THANK YOU to our amazing community of volunteers who generously gave up their time this weekend to support us. They truly are the heart and sole of this much-loved annual event, from cheering on our incredible runners, to all of the behind-the-scenes activity you don't even get to see - we wouldn't be able to deliver the Children's Cancer Run without them! Thank you especially to those of you who came forward so last minute in response to our urgent call out for support, we are so grateful 🧑
