At this year’s Blina Shama UK conference in Leeds, we celebrated the joy of being together and honoring our rich cultural heritage. We have also initiated our ambitious long-term plan.

We are excited to share that we have launched three ambitious long-term projects that aim to strengthen our community:

1️⃣ Creation of a Virtual Museum – A space to document and showcase our history and cultural treasures.

2️⃣ Development of an Online Language Learning Toolkit – A resource to empower our community with language skills.

3️⃣ Working Towards a Cultural Community Center (CCC) – A welcoming hub for celebration, creativity, and collaboration.

Among these initiatives, developing the CCC will be our top priority. We believe that with your contributions and support, we can bring these projects to life!

As we enter the planning phase, we invite your feedback and any ideas you have that could enhance these efforts.

Together, let us build a better future for our community!

Thank you for an extraordinary event!

We are thrilled to report that our 2025 Blina Shama UK annual gathering has exceeded all our expectations!

Our deepest gratitude goes to our hosts, particularly the Leeds community and the remarkable women whose tireless efforts made this event possible. A special shout-out to those who played a vital role in organising people and resources.

Our children, who are at the heart of everything we do, shone brightly with their athleticism, poetry, performances, and creativity. They truly showcased the spirit of our community!

We are immensely grateful to our talented artists and musicians for bringing joy and creativity to the event. A heartfelt thank you to Habtat Zerezghi for travelling from Norway to entertain us and guide us through our rich heritage.

We also appreciate our entire community in the UK, including those who could not attend the event, for their outstanding support through continued contributions both financially and in kind.

We extend our thanks to the Leeds councillors for their attendance, support, and commitment to future collaboration.

Last but certainly not least, we thank our trustees, management group and volunteers for laying the foundations for community co-leadership and co-followership.
