Huge shoutout to Will Kirvan for hosting another incredible Zumbathon in support of our centre 🧡 Will, who is one of the youngest Zumba instructors in the country, popped in earlier this week to say hello as he's just finished his GCSE exams.

Last year this spectacular event raised more than £3,500 and this year it’s on track to be even bigger with 100 participants and 10 instructors already signed up.🔥

Bake and Brew is all about bringing people together over delicious cakes and cuppas, all while supporting Maggie’s. There’s no set recipe: host anytime, anywhere, and make it your own.

Every cuppa served and cake baked will help provide more practical and emotional support for the people who need us most.

Friday Fundraiser shout out 📢
A big thank you to Derek & Sandra Calpin and the wonderful community of Seahouses for raising an incredible £1,400 for our centre.

Their coffee morning at Stoneclose Community Centre brought together around 80 people across the day, with plenty of support for the coffee, scones, and fundraising activities ☕🍰

The raffle, cake stall, and tombola helped raise a fantastic £400, and the event was given a brilliant boost thanks to a very generous £1,000 contribution from The Seahouses & Duistruct Cancer Research & Relief Fund.👏

We’re also very grateful to the local shops for donating prizes, and to the many friends and volunteers who helped make the day run so smoothly.

Thank you to everyone involved - your support made this a truly successful event and will help us to continue to support people with cancer and all those that love them.🧡

This week's are the wonderful team at Red House Coffee Morning In Support of Different Charities who come together every Monday to raise money for local charities ☕

Back in March, one of their much-loved members, Sue, kindly nominated Maggie’s Newcastle to receive their donation. Sadly, Sue passed away before the group were able to present it, but it was truly special to welcome the ladies into the centre to donate in her memory.

Sue’s friends shared: "Sue always loved a laugh, a game of bingo, and was so supportive of us. She nominated Maggie’s Newcastle as March’s charity, so we felt it was only right to donate to them in her memory."

Keep up the great work all and thank you for remembering Sue in this special way🧡

On Friday 19th June, Kev Brown and a team of cyclists will be riding from Maggie’s Newcastle to Maggie's Yorkshire to raise funds and awareness for the two centres. Thank you to Kev for organising the fundraising challenge and a huge good luck to everyone taking part. They hope to raise over £5,000 to celebrate 30 years since the first Maggie’s centre opened. We’re incredibly grateful to have such wonderful volunteers in our centre. Have you met Beth our newest volunteer yet? 🧡

Beth is one of our newest volunteers who joined us earlier this year. She shares why giving back to Maggie's is important to her and what her role involves:

"I started volunteering in April 2026 while taking a career break and exploring a new career path. I had some spare time and wanted to do something meaningful with it.

"The centre is really busy, and I love helping out by making tea and coffee and meeting and greeting visitors as they come in.

"My dad was supported by Maggie’s Newcastle, and during such a difficult time for my family, that support meant so much to us. Volunteering feels like a really special way to give back to a place that helped us when we needed it most.

"I’m Maggie’s Newcastle’s newest volunteer, and I’m so glad to be part of the Maggie’s community."

We can continue to provide our vital expert cancer support for people facing cancer today, tomorrow and always, with the help of our wonderful volunteers like Beth. Thank you to everyone who volunteers in our centres around the UK.
