some of our regulars, last Saturday.
We need more people like them for June, a few hours on a Saturday, sorting and distributing food in Newcastle. No experience needed. No politics test.
Members get first pick of roles. But you don't have to be a member to volunteer.
Deadline's 15th June. A few spots are already gone.
DM us before you commit if you want to know what a shift actually looks like. That's a completely normal thing to ask.

In autumn 2022, 60% of our members were on prepayment meters. The national "Don't Pay" campaign wasn't available to them. So we built what they actually needed.

→ PPM workshops in church halls
→ Bailiff resistance training
→ Forced meetings with energy executives

The following February, all major energy firms were ordered to suspend force-fitting prepayment meters. We helped make that pressure undeniable.

Then the two-child benefit cap. Members said: let's organise. A photo petition. A fun run outside the Mayor's office. A council motion written while packing food parcels.

With the cap abolished in Autumn 2025 Budget.

This is member-led organising. No statements. No performance. Just wins.

7 Important Reasons NOT to Do Door Knocking - Excuses We Tell Ourselves

Writer and sociologist Tressie McMillan Cottom once said:
“[w]e aren’t exhausted because we are aware of too much. We are exhausted because we are doing too little…[W]e are getting so much passive information, and we have so few opportunities to act.”
