This June, girls from our partner schools have been training, competing and celebrating remarkable achievements on and off the pitch.

⚽️ 𝐍𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 have qualified for the 𝐍𝐝𝐡𝐢𝐰𝐚 𝐒𝐮𝐛-𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢-𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬 after an outstanding performance.

Behind every selection are months of training, teamwork and determination. Every football journey starts with a dream—Ida Tom famously began by playing barefoot in her village before reaching the professional game.

Today, we are watching the next generation write their own stories.

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐄𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲, 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠.

Emily is using her creativity and video editing skills to help amplify the voices of vulnerable girls through Team Kenya, showing the world the impact we can create.

Although early in her professional career, Emily has built experience editing music videos, webinars and social media content for two small businesses, while continually developing her skills through professional training in DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro.

Supporting disadvantaged communities has always been important to Emily. From volunteering with Oxfam, Exceptional Individuals and KEEN Oxford to now sharing her talents with Team Kenya, she's passionate about using her skills to make a difference.

We're excited to introduce Liz, who has joined Team Kenya to take on this year's challenge. A passionate marathon runner, Liz has made running an important part of her lifestyle, and this September she'll be travelling from London to take on the Great North Run in support of Team Kenya.

She will be running the world's largest half marathon to raise funds for girls' education and women's empowerment programmes in Ndhiwa Sub-County, Kenya, delivered by our partner Twende Pamoja.

For Liz, this challenge is about more than crossing the finish line. Her own experiences have shown her the power of education to shape futures, overcome obstacles and challenge inequality, which is why Team Kenya's mission resonates so strongly with her. By combining her passion for running with a cause she believes in, she's helping create opportunities for girls in Ndhiwa to realise their potential.

Now, she's turning that commitment into action:

"I know what it means to shape your own future through education, to overcome obstacles, and to challenge inequality. That's why I'm taking on the Great North Run, to help create more opportunities for vulnerable girls in Kenya."

When was the last time you used your phone to create a video or take a photo for social media?

In Kenya, only 𝟑𝟐.𝟐% 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐭, with digital exclusion much higher in rural areas.

Through one of Team Kenya and Twende Pamoja's long-standing programmes, girls recently took part in advanced digital skills training at the Learning Resource Centre.

Girls got access to cameras, with guidance on how to use video and photography to capture and share stories. They focused on issues that were important to them - drug abuse within their communities, continuation of education, confidence and self-expression, and gender-based violence. By telling their own stories via online platforms, girls living in Kenya can allow their voices to be heard all over the world.

Positive social media engagement can boost girls' confidence and empowerment, while also giving them skills enabling them to follow their dreams. 💜

We're still carrying the powerful emotions from our Day of the African Child celebration.

There are moments in school that stay with children for years, and this was one of them.

Twende Pamoja continued the spirit of the Day of the African Child by creating a day filled with learning, joy and confidence at Wayara Comprehensive School.
Pupils took part in practical hygiene sessions that helped them understand how to stay healthy at school and at home. This kind of learning is essential, especially when 646 million children worldwide attend schools without basic hygiene facilities.
The excitement grew as the girls’ netball match began, with teamwork, courage, and encouragement from every corner of the field. Wayara Junior took the win, but every girl showed bravery and pride.

The day gave children the chance to learn, play, build selfbelief and develop important life skills.

We’re grateful to Twende Pamoja for creating such meaningful moments for young people to shine.

This week we're introducing Diana, one of our Graphic Designers at Team Kenya.

Originally from Peru, Diana travelled to the other side of the world to start a new chapter in the UK. Creativity is at the heart of everything Diana does. Alongside graphic design, she's passionate about fashion, sewing and illustration, bringing care and creativity to every project she takes on. Diana joined Team Kenya because she wanted to design with purpose and focus on a meaningful impact rather than consumerism.

As well as putting a great deal of passion into her illustration, sewing and handicraft work she loves sweets and mangoes. As a child, she dreamed of being a veterinarian by day and a circus trapeze artist by night! 🎪

✨ 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅, 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮.

Alex is currently studying 3D Design at Northumbria University and is passionate about using creativity to solve problems, tell meaningful stories, and create designs that make a real difference.

Alex feels it is important to use his skills to support a meaningful cause and contribute to work that creates real opportunities. He resonates with Team Kenya’s mission to educate girls, empower women and transform communities in rural Kenya. Alex hopes to communicate that impact through design.

Outside of volunteering, Alex loves taking on outdoor challenges for charity. He has completed the Three Peaks Challenge, a 100-mile charity walk in just 48 hours, and a coast-to-coast cycling challenge to raise money for good causes. He also represents his University as a player for their 2nd Hockey Team. 🏔️🚴🏑
