🌟 It’s Volunteers’ Week 2025! 🌟

Here at Saint Wulstan’s, we want to say a huge THANK YOU to every single volunteer who helps make Scouting possible.

Because of you, our young people get to climb mountains (literally and metaphorically), make new friends, earn badges, build confidence and develop skills that last a lifetime.

Whether you’re running weekly meetings, helping at camp, stepping in when needed, or quietly keeping things running behind the scenes – you are making a difference.

To the planners, the organisers, the game-makers, the kit-packers, the badge-trackers and the always-ready-to-help-ers – thank you.

You give more than just your time. You bring energy, ideas, encouragement and heart. And that means everything – to us, and to the young people we support.

We will never stop saying thank you.

💚 Happy Volunteers’ Week! 💚

If you’d like to be part of our amazing team, we’d love to hear from you – there’s a role for everyone, no matter your skills or availability!

We’re looking forward to seeing lots of our young people on Parade this Sunday as we come together to renew our Scouting promises.

St George holds a special place in Scouting as our Patron Saint, and it’s always an incredible sight to see the whole District come together—especially with the District band leading the way, which includes some of our very own Scouts and leaders!

This year, we’re also proud to be taking part in the service by performing the St George’s Day play.

Don’t worry if you haven’t signed up on OSM—just turn up! The sign-up was mainly to help us plan and choose Flag Bearers.

Please wear full smart uniform, including neckers, with school trousers/skirt or navy/dark trousers and school shoes.

A Message from the Cubs!

Hi everyone!

We’ve been really busy this term and have earned lots of badges – but the two we’ve been focusing on are the Community Impact badge and the Pawprint I have supported the Little Princess Trust badge.

We chose to help The Little Princess Trust because they give real hair wigs to children and young people who lose their hair through cancer or other illnesses. We thought that was a really kind thing to do and wanted to help too.

To support them, we planned and ran our very own fundraising evening – we organised activities, made posters, and invited our families along. Altogether, we raised an incredible £533!

And the best bit? Our leader Akela even donated 12 inches of her own hair to be made into a wig!

We’re so proud of everything we’ve done and hope we’ve made a real difference. We’ve also learned that helping others makes us feel good, and we’d love to do even more in future.

Thank you to everyone who supported us – you’ve helped us do something amazing!

What a night!
Our Cubs pulled off an absolutely amazing Little Princess Trust fundraiser on Friday — and they did it all by themselves!

From planning to running the event, they took charge of everything: a bake sale, sponge the leader, skittles, basketball shootout, a Cub-run coffee shop, an art stall, and more.

We also had a very special moment as one of our leaders Akela donated her hair, with the help of the wonderful Angela Mee — thank you so much for your time and kindness!

Thanks to everyone’s support, they raised an unbelievable £533.60 for the The Little Princess Trust— an incredible charity doing amazing work.

We’re so proud of each and every one of them — what a team!

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿!
Our Beavers at 36th Saint Wulstan’s Own have spent the last two weeks learning some essential Scouting skills — and they’ve done an incredible job!

They’ve tackled three different knots: the reef knot, the overhand (thumb) knot, and — for many — the all-important life skill of tying their own shoelaces. It’s all part of their work towards the Camp Craft, Outdoor Challenge, and Skills Challenge badges.

These activities might look simple, but they’re laying the groundwork for bigger adventures to come. Whether it’s setting up tents, building gadgets or taking part in pioneering, these skills will support them through Cubs, Scouts, and beyond.

After Easter, we’ll be recapping their knot work — ready for them to show it off at District Medieval Camp in June!

A huge thank you to our brilliant team of volunteers who make sessions like this possible. If you’ve ever thought about helping out — even just a little — we’d love to hear from you. The difference it makes to our young people is massive.

𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀! 🧗🏻‍♀️

Last Friday, our Cubs from 36th Saint Wulstan’s Own enjoyed an incredible evening of climbing at Jubilee 2. From rope walls to bouldering challenges, every Cub gave it their all — pushing themselves out of their comfort zones and showing amazing teamwork and determination.

The session ticked off part of their Adventure Challenge Award, and they’ve not stopped talking about it since — they’re already asking when we can go back!

Huge thanks to the fantastic instructors at Jubilee2 for making the experience so fun, supportive, and safe.

We’re also incredibly grateful to our volunteer leaders and behind-the-scenes helpers who make nights like this possible. Every adventure, badge, and memory starts with a team of adults giving their time and energy to make it all happen.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be part of that magic — even just in small ways — we’d love to chat.

BREAKING NEWS: 36th Saint Wulstan’s Own Adopts New Sleeping Policy!

From now on, all our young people — Beavers, Cubs and Scouts — will be sleeping upside down to help improve posture and enhance outdoor skills.
Don’t worry, echolocation practice will be part of the bedtime routine.

We’ll be updating the OSM kit list shortly to include:
• Grippy socks
• Anti-gravity sleeping bags
• Banana snacks (optional, but encouraged)

Let’s hang in there together!

Support our Cubs and the Little Princess Trust!

The Cubs from 36th Saint Wulstan’s Own have been working incredibly hard on their Community Impact Badge — and they’ve taken the lead every step of the way to create a fundraiser in support of the Little Princess Trust.

They’ve learned all about the charity and the amazing work it does, then planned what they wanted to do, made posters, budgeted for their activities, and now they’re ready to run the whole event themselves!

Friday 4th April 2025
7:30pm – 8:30pm
Saint Wulstan’s Community Centre – everyone is welcome!

Expect a night full of fun and games, with all activities priced between 20p and £1. Each activity has been created and will be run by the Cubs — including a Cub Café, where they’ll be selling drinks and refreshments they’ve planned and priced up themselves!

And in a truly generous gesture, Akela will be donating her hair — with help from Angela Mee — to support the cause.

Help us reach our goal of £150

🌟 Our Cubs Are Taking the Lead! 🌟

Our Cub Scouts have been working hard behind the scenes to plan, organise, and run their very own fundraising evening for parents, all in support of The Little Princess Trust! 💜

As part of their Community Impact Badge, they’ve taken full responsibility for this event—choosing activities, sorting logistics, and making sure everything runs smoothly on the night. They are determined to make a real difference, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts!

Alongside this, our very own leader, Ash, will be donating their hair to The Little Princess Trust. This incredible charity provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment or conditions like Alopecia. They also fund vital childhood cancer research, helping to improve treatments and find cures.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our Cubs to develop leadership skills while making a real impact on a charity that changes lives. If you’d like to support them, you can donate here:
