We're back from another great fundraiser! Our friends at Shaw-cum-Donnington Parish Council invited us along to help with their ever popular summer fete, where groups like the W.I and Watership Brass displayed their many talents, the cakes being especially inviting! However in our quest to uphold 3rd Newbury's second motto (Be Prepared is our first) our Go big or go home motto was definitely adhered to. We are always conscious of our commitment to serve good quality food whether it is at a camp, family meeting or fundraising event, and this was at the forefront of our minds when it was suggested that we pack our chest freezer AND have it plugged in and running! Crazy you may think but with the usual suspects stepping up and sorting it out we were able to guarantee the food served had been kept at the proper temperature until it was cooked. Thanks must go to the young leaders and Explorers who came out to run our craft tents and also to Nick March for supplying the solar charging bank that ran the freezer. Next week we are Robert Sandilands where much of the same will happen, please join us if you are able.
