How does that figure make you feel?

For me, it made me feel like I want to do something about it. Every child deserves the best start in life. All parents deserve support, because there’s no harder job.

My name is Kayleigh, I’m a local mum of 2 and I lived the baby years of my boys being afforded hand me downs, second hand bargains and loads of support. But what if you don’t have financial support, emotional support or at the very least the very basics of what you need to feed, clothe and bath your children?

I had no idea about the world of baby banks until I had my own children - and I’m both saddened that we need one and beyond enthusiastic to ensure that one exists in my home town.

The premise is quite simple - there’s an amazing community of parents and carers here, willing to gift on their used but in good condition baby and children’s equipment to families who really need it. Many tell me they are fed up of trying to sell things on - and want their things to go to a family where it will make a difference.

I take the donations. I clean, sterlise and store it and seek to re-distribute it. Right now, I’m doing this by making contact with the professionals locally who work with families. I’ve opened my doors to doulas, school staff, foster carers, social workers, family support workers, quite a long list and I work by referral. You just need to make contact ([email protected]) and ask for what you need.

To anyone who works with families and children and needs anything to support local families who are financially, emotionally, physically struggling - THANK YOU, for everything you do. I can’t thank you enough for the work you do for our society. This baby bank is to support you, and all that you do to gift families more.

This baby bank is to support families - to gift free equipment, clothes and to let them know, their whole community sees them and wants to help.
