Fork Lift Truck Association

Fork Lift Truck Association When calling upon the services of an FLTA member, you can be certain of demonstrably higher standards. Underscoring that Code is the FLTA’s Member Audit.

With a strong focus on raising safety standards in the materials handling sector, the FLTA represents the interests of both those who own and operate forklift trucks and also those who manufacture, sell, and service them. Now part of the UK Material Handling Association, the FLTA has, for five decades, worked tirelessly to raise standards, enhance safety and encourage best practice. Each must abid

e by a stringent Code of Practice underpinned by our rigorous, industry-specific Member Audit. That Code of Practice is your assurance that the FLTA Member is competent to survey your site (taking the time to understand your application as well as your future plans), offer expert advice and then specify the most appropriate equipment. It means they will deliver robust, prompt service support carried out by fully trained engineers, use high quality parts, employ a nationally agreed rental contract and are backed by extensive insurance cover. Crucially, it means they will meet defined standards of safety, efficiency and integrity. Developed specifically for the forklift industry it involves an exacting, on-site visit to inspect more than 100 criteria across the key areas of safety, environmental procedures and best practice. For you, as a customer, the Audit is proof that each FLTA member works to standards demonstrably higher than non-compliant companies and removes a potentially weak link in your chain of traceability and accountability. We carry out more than 100 checks on every member – so you don’t have to. If you are involved in managing forklifts operations, the FLTA Safe User Group will be of interest. As a member you’ll receive clear, authoritative, relevant and up-to-the-minute information on all aspects of forklift-related safety and best practice. The affordable membership gives you access to a wealth of information, guidance and resources including Safer Site Pro (a unique step-by-step site-safety programme with interactive hazard diagnostics), benchmarking tools, technical bulletins, fact sheets, risk assessment documents, updates on changes to legislation, a members’ magazine, bi-monthly Health & Safety newsletters and a series of free, expert helplines. The UK Material Handling Association (UKMHA) has been formed by the merger of the UK materials handling industry’s foremost trade associations: the FLTA (Fork Lift Truck Association) and BITA (British Industrial Truck Association), together with their co-owned subsidiary CFTS (Consolidated Fork Truck Services), the national accrediting body for the delivery of Thorough Examinations (LOLER & PUWER).
