Our chapter was given a real insight into the power of case studies recently when member Nigel Morgan of Case Study PR revealed they had contributed to him being awarded the Million Giver pin.

Whenever someone passes a referral in BNI and it leads to business, the person who passed the referral will be thanked for the value of the invoice. It was such Thank You For The Business (TYFTB) that reached £1,000,000 – and fact has already passed £1,100,000.

Much of the TYFTB related to referrals Nigel has passed. However, he revealed that much more has come when members who have used the first-person case studies from Case Study PR have go on to thank Nigel for the business they generate – they correctly determine that without the case studies, they would not have the business. Indeed, it is not uncommon for prospective clients to reveal the case study had clinched the contract.

Nigel also revealed that businesses using the case studies will see their conversion rate improve, together with securing higher prices and the time between enquiry and conversion much shortened.

While the Million Giver pin is a rare one in BNI, we have two in our chapter – electrician Chris Pearce also wears the special pin with pride.

Clearly you need to have a conversation with Nigel if your businesses isn’t booming.

Nigel Morgan is pictured below with our Director Consultant Linda Gale following the presentation of the Million Giver pin.

How Smart Business Owners Make Their Money Work Harder

Ever wondered how to turn your business income into lasting wealth? Luc Poyda from Harridge Financial Services broke it down in a way that was refreshingly simple at last week's meeting.

It’s all about making every pound work twice, earning today, and investing for tomorrow.

From clever pension strategies that save on tax to using ISAs for tax-free growth, there are powerful tools out there that many business owners overlook.

And if you’re part of BNI, you’ve got a secret weapon: a network of professionals who share insights, collaborate on ventures, and help each other grow.

Small actions today can lead to big results tomorrow. So whether you're a sole trader or a seasoned entrepreneur, it’s time to rethink how your money works for you.

Would you like more of Luc's wisdom? Why not come along for a visit.

It is easy to forget how unreliable the British weather is when the sun is shining, however savvy folk choose to rely upon the travel agent at our BNI Chapter, Jon Stubberfield, aka Jon Voyage.

During an insightful feature presentation he revealed why planning your own holiday can only get you so far, literally, and not always for the best price, during the best weather or in the best location.

Jon explained that every trip he plans begins with a long conversation with a prospective client about what they want from their holiday, as his expertise will always reveal an exciting choice of destinations.

Fittingly, the same meeting also saw Luc Poyda read out a powerful testimonial for Jon for a holiday break he had arranged through the Travel Counsellor.

Whatever weather you want on your holiday, whether boutique or backpack, honeymoon or retirement, we bid you Jon Voyage.

We were recently had the benefits of plantation shutters from Adam Badger of Smart Blinds & Shutters Ltd.

Adam explained the adjustable louvers provide excellent control over the amount of light entering, and you can easily tilt the slats to block or allow sunlight while maintaining privacy.

They are also energy efficient, keeping homes cool in the summer and warmer in winter; they are durable and very aesthetically appealing.

Whether you need plantation shutters, thermal blinds or any other kind of window dressing, Adam can help - as we found out he already has at the home of our chapter president, Jon Stubberfield, who read out a testimonial for Adam.

Jon said: "...they went on to install beautiful, high-quality blinds that exceeded our expectations. The installation was efficient, safe, polite, kind, respectful, and genuinely was a delightful pleasure to have in the house.

We’re so impressed that we’ve recently gone back to Adam and the team to have more blinds added throughout the house. I can honestly say this has all been a real pleasure: professional, and helpful throughout. The showroom in Tadleyham is like a cool bonus, with everything laid out in a wide range of display models so you can see exactly what you’re getting before you commit.

Smart Blinds and Shutters is clearly a business built on experience, passion, and genuine care, a family-run company that really puts its heart into the work. I couldn’t recommend them more highly."

Such high praise indeed. You know what to do.

A worthy recipient of our award for the best weekly presentation last week was West Berkshire Mencap CEO Sara Vaughan.

Sara's weekly tales often reveal the next big fundraising event, or how funds raised are being spent - and sometimes the 60 seconds of a normal weekly presentation do not suffice. The award, which grants the winner two minutes at the next meeting, so we'll be hearing a bit more from Sara on Friday.

Our chapter's charity member Sara Vaughan from West Berkshire Mencap often talks about fundraising events that Jack O'Newbury BNI will support, and when she took the hot seat for the feature presentation Sara focused on '70 Club'

Many of the members already pay £5 a month toward the 70 Club and some have even scooped the monthly prize of £50 or £25 per month. Now we need to help West Berkshire Mencap

Sara revealed the goal was to get 1,000 monthly donors at £5 per month, which gives the charity £5,000 each month of sustainable income.

“Just £5/month helps equipment, inclusive community events, and vital support services for local people with disabilities.” Sara explained.

She then revealed a host of activities, many of which members can support, to hit that target of £1,000 per month.

Could you help? Promoting the 70 Club in your organisation? Or simply by joining yourself: https://www.wbmencap.org/70-club/
