A group of NTTA members enjoyed a morning in the beautiful surroundings of Lock Island Garden in the heart of Newbury recently

It was wonderful to see a garden with green grass and abundant flowers during a drought (the owner has permission to extract water from the river that flows through the garden). We enjoyed tea and coffee with cake/scones, and a stroll around the gardens. The proceeds go to NHS charities as part of the National Garden Scheme.

Thank you to Karen Barraclough for suggesting the event.

The Palio di Feltre is a grand display of historic costume, demonstrations and competition between the town's four districts for supremacy in archery, tug-of-war, relay and horse racing. Many of our members have witnessed this spectacle and even taken part. Connections and experiences like this are at the heart of our Twin Town Associations. See the website link at the top of our page for more details of how to join.

The Teatro de la Sena is an exquisite building with a carefully restored 17th century interior and is a highlight of any visit to our Italian twin town. Members of the Twin Town association are fortunate to often have privileged access to architectural gems like this.

The Palio di Feltre has been awarded a prestigious prize by the Associazione Culturale Italia Medievale, an organisation which promotes and celebrates Italian medieval heritage and history. Many Newbury Twin Town groups have witnessed and even taken part in this extraordinary event, so we are fully aware of the hard work and dedication needed to stage it. We congratulate our friends in Feltre!
