Recently Rotary Club of Long Bennington sponsored a young man called Ben to attend a RYLA course in Castleton
On returning this is what Ben had to say regarding his weekend trip.

I am about to do my GCSE's and Rotary gave me a great opportunity! They sponsored me to spend a weekend at The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards at Castleton in Derbyshire.

l had to lead a group and show leadership skills of delegation, adaptability and identify areas of improvement. I learnt how to be a proper leader and how to listen to others, break down problems and solve them properly. For every activity we were told what to do differently next time depending on what our group wrote about us.

The activities that we did ranged from, auctioning games, to people going missing and having to find them. We did a pantomime and had to start from scratch and put it together ourselves! At the start, when I didn’t know anyone, I had to be brave and start talking to people who were at time, strangers.

I will use my new skills at home, school, work placements and when playing sport. Thank you Long Bennington Rotary Club!
