Many thanks to everyone who came today - we are winning the battle against the weeds…at least for now 😂. A huge thank you to Adam (from UMC architects ), Vivienne, Bridget, Diane, Peta, Michael and Chris! All tubs are watered and loads of weeds dug up, swept the paths, cleared the weeds in between the flagstones at the church, added in some herbs…penstemons and other plants! We also had a photo from a nursery school (Little Locos) where 8 little ones planted lettuce seeds, planted an oregano plant into a tub - and learned the herbs that will go into spaghetti bolognese and their roast chicken ! They really liked the smell of the lemon thyme! Such fun - sorry no photos yet though!

Thanks to a fabulous donation from UMC Architects to get some new plants (bought from Devon Croft Nursery Newark on Trent) we were able to completely redo the planters by the Gilstrap and the Castle! The grasses (that were alive) were repurposed and the remaining dead plants and vinca removed). I think you will agree it’s an improvement - now we just have to be patient, water them and let them grow…some of those we added last year have grown back and so we watered them and gave them some air as they were being drowned out by the grasses…
