Monday lunch (28/04) was a special treat with Jayan Patel giving a presentation about the 'International Scout Jamboree 2023' in Korea. The Jamboree is held every 4th year in a different country, giving delegates a chance to meet and make friends with people from other nations. Jayan's trip had been part sponsored by the Rotary Club of Newark and the presentation showed just how much had been gained by the trip.
Sadly, the actual Scout Camp had to be abandoned after 3 days as a typhoon was approaching, though the rest of the time was spent in hotels, and touring Korea's historic sites. One of the most interesting visits being to the DMZ - De-Militarised Zone.

Today, Monday 7th April, members joined in singing Happy Birthday to their oldest member, Mahes Maheson, who will be 94 tomorrow.
Many mature 'Newarkers' will have been treated by Mahes when he was the Senior Surgeon at the old Newark Hospital at the corner of London Road and Sherwood Avenue.
Huge congratulations Mahes for all your Rotary service.

31st March. Rotary Visit to the Air & Space Institute of Newark. Amazing training equipment, flight simulator, and an Airbus to boot!

Young Musicians of 2025
This is one of the Rotary Club of Newark's amazing projects. 74 junior school musicians, competing for 12 places in the final: woodwind, brass, strings, and piano.
The 20 finalists for 2025 performed in the magnificent Methodist Hope Community Centre on Barnbygate. A venue to make music sing.

The Rotary Club of Newark, along with it's daughter club Newark Castle, have sponsored the Courage Awards. The award is for secondary school pupils who have shown great courage overcoming adverse conditions, be they in living, ill health or disability. Each school gets to nominate a recipient.
