I'm sure it won't surprise you to learn that the item we receive the most grant applications is a mobility scooter. And the Trustees are delighted to be able to award enough money for many more mobility scooters during the past year. That means the lives of several elderly people across the Newark community have been changed for the better due to the Mary Elizabeth Siebel Trust.

The Trustees will be meeting soon to consider applications. Did you know that the Mary Elizabeth Siebel Trust can help with more than mobility scooters and walking frames? We can also help with items such as carpets, as L Bassingham found out. When they needed replacement carpets to make their home safer and warmer, the MES Trust was able to help with a grant.

The Mary Elizabeth Siebel Trust was set up by Florence Siebel to help the elderly of Newark remain independent in their homes, such as N Marchant who received a grant to have a stairlift fitted. As their health and fitness had deteriorated, so had their access to the upstairs of their house...but the stairlift gave them that freedom and safety back.
