The cows are back, and 10 of them have been busy grazing on Romney Warren recently!
These conservation champions have been hard at work managing the grassland, tearing the grass with their tongues. We think they look pretty happy about their progress so far!

If you see them on your travels, be sure to give them a wave! Please also remember to keep your dogs on a lead to keep everyone safe and happy!

We’re pleased to share that our team and dedicated volunteers have recently completed a major tree planting project in Newchurch, creating over a hectare of new native woodland on Romney Marsh. With more than 1,400 trees now in the ground, this new habitat will support wildlife, boost biodiversity and store carbon for decades to come.

A huge thank you to V33 UK for supporting the project, and to our brilliant partners and volunteers, including Eckersley O’Callaghan Engineers and Mears Group who joined us for the tree planting through our corporate volunteering scheme.

Great news from Gibbins Brook!

Our restored pond and two new ponds, created in 2024 through the District Level Licensing Scheme, are now seeing plenty of newt activity.

During a recent visit, Ranger Steff spotted a great crested newt egg in one of the new ponds and an adult male great crested newt in the restored pond. Another of the new ponds had over a dozen small newts swimming around - a good sign that these habitats are already supporting wildlife.

All newt surveying was carried out under licence, ensuring the work followed the required conservation and welfare standards.

You can read more about it here: https://www.whitecliffscountryside.org.uk/about-us/news/newts

🚴‍♂️ Final reminder!
Our Guided Cycle Ride with Ranger Mark is happening this Saturday, 14 March!

Ranger Mark is a keen cyclist, and there’s no better way to explore your local landscape than on two wheels. While cycling might not be the most traditional way to spot wildlife, we’ll be making plenty of stops to take in the views and enjoy those fleeting moments with nature.
Mark will guide you around the 15‑mile loop, pointing out key features along the route, expect insights into local history, wildlife… and probably a few cycling stories too!

🌿 Get ready for a fun, active morning out on the Marsh!
