More NBU traps out at appledore train station full of European hornet

01/04/2024

So 2023 no pest controllers wanted any part of AH. 2024 every Pest controller wants part of it and why. ? Because NBU has said if we get 200 nests we are out of battle. so will be down to the pest controllers to remove nests at big cost to land owners. So if the Pest controller our part of it this year thay will have the data to work out hot spots in 2025. Making them lots of money. If all had been part of it in 2023 we may have stopped but then no money for them. It's all about making money out of people discussing behaviour

We have just been informed about this.

We would like to draw your attention to an important issue affecting our community— the presence of Asian Yellow-Legged Hornets in the Shepway area especially Folkestone, Hawkinge, Capel Le-fern, Hythe and Burmarsh.
Why is this important? Asian Yellow-Legged Hornets pose a potential threat to our local environment, native insect populations, and agriculture. Raising awareness is key to addressing this issue and ensuring the well-being of our community.
How can you help?
1. Learn More: Take a moment to educate yourself about the characteristics and impact of Asian Yellow-Legged Hornets. Knowledge is the first step in creating a safer environment.
2. Spread the Word: Share this information with your friends, family, and neighbours. Increased awareness is crucial for early detection and effective control of these invasive hornets.
3. Report Sightings: If you come across Asian Yellow-Legged Hornets or their nests, please report it promptly to [Local Authorities/Local Pest Control]. Early reporting is vital for proper intervention.
4. Community Dialogue: Join the conversation! Share your thoughts, experiences, or any information you may have about Asian Yellow-Legged Hornets. We can create a supportive community network to address this issue together.
Let's work together to protect our local environment and ensure a safer and more informed community.
We are able to hold talks if anybody is interested in learning more and would like to ask if anyone would like to meet up and help with Spring Queening ,catching the emerging queens after there over winter hibernation throughout April – May 2024.
This should reduce the number of Asian Yellow Legged Hornets nests in the area and protect all of the pollinators especially the Honey bee
