Help us build a new youth unit in Lydd.
We're opening MTC Lydd, a brand new unit for young people aged 9 to 17, and we're looking for a team to get it going:
- A Unit Leader to run the unit and build it from the ground up
- Unit Officers to work alongside the leader, lead sessions and look after the cadets
- Instructors to teach the skills, from first aid and navigation to fieldcraft and outdoor challenges
Once it's up and running, the unit will meet two weekday evenings a week, 6pm to 8:30pm. For a lot of young people it's a chance to try things they wouldn't otherwise get to.
You don't need any background in the armed forces or the cadets. If you're reliable, good with young people and like the idea of getting something off the ground, we'll teach you the rest. If you've already got skills to share, or you've worked with cadets or scouts before, even better, but it isn't required. Full training is provided, we cover your DBS check and uniform, and we'll help you get the word out and recruit your first cadets. You'll have the wider MTC team and our established units behind you.
It would also be great if you could join weekend training and camps, so the cadets get the full experience.
Want to see what it looks like first? Come and see one of our existing units in action, no commitment.
Message me or email [email protected], or tag someone in Lydd who'd be great at this.
All volunteers go through an enhanced DBS check.
