The first Blue Plaque for New Milton. It celebrates Emma Newhook the first Post-Mistress in what we now as New Milton. Parcels for locals kept going to what we now know as Old Milton & a Milton in Plymouth. She applied to the post office to change her office name to 'New Milton' and the LSWR followed suite renaming what had been 'Milton' station, the first building in the area. Nick Saunders & Alan O'Sullivan can be seen at the ceremony unveiling the plaque with Mandy Hayes of Friends of New Milton Station and Amanda from Tesco Express, who kindly allowed the plaque to be installed. The ceremony was followed by refreshments for all in the garden area of New Milton Station.
