Today, Sett Valley Explorers headed up to the stunning Oeschinensee Lake, nestled in the Swiss Alps and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. 🇨🇭

With incredible mountain scenery all around, the Explorers made the most of the day with a paddle out on the crystal-clear waters. Taking in the breathtaking views and enjoying a peaceful escape in one of Switzerland’s most beautiful alpine locations.

The Sett Valley Explorers took on KISC’s iconic Lötschenpass Hike, heading through the meadows and forests of the Gasterntal before making the steep climb to Gfellalp (1,847 m) — one of KISC’s own mountain huts.

After a well-earned night surrounded by incredible mountain views, day two brought us onto the Lötschen Glacier for an introduction to glacier walking, before crossing the historic Lötschenpass.

From the pass, we descended through the lush pastures of the Lötschental to Ferden, completing an epic two-day journey through some of Switzerland’s most spectacular alpine landscapes.

A huge thank you to the Pinkies for guiding us, sharing their knowledge and helping make this expedition such a memorable experience! 💙

Day 2 in Kandersteg!

Today our Sett Valley Explorers took on the Golitschepass Cheesery Hike — a fantastic hike combining stunning Swiss Alpine scenery with a taste of traditional mountain life.

The Explorers climbed through the forest, tackled the steep steps up to Golitschenalp.

At the cheesery, they got to discover how traditional Swiss cheesemakers work in the valley — and, of course, sample some of the freshly made Alpine produce! Even bumped into some friendly cows whilst up there!

Another brilliant day of adventure, teamwork and unforgettable memories at KISC. 💙

THE ADVENTURE BEGINS!

Today, our Sett Valley Explorers set off on their international adventure to Kandersteg International Scout Camp in Switzerland! 🇨🇭

We’re incredibly excited to see what adventures, challenges, friendships and memories await them.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has helped make this trip possible — through your incredible support of our Explorers, fundraising efforts and the generous donations we have received. Your support has made a real difference and helped turn this adventure into a reality.

Now it’s time for the Explorers to enjoy every moment, embrace the adventure and make memories that will last a lifetime!

A huge thank you to Visit New Mills for their very generous donation to our Kandersteg Fund following this year's New Mills Carnival.

Your support will make a real difference and will help our young people take part in an unforgettable adventure to Kandersteg, Switzerland. From exploring the mountains to experiencing international Scouting and making lifelong memories, this trip will be truly special.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to New Mills Emporium & New Mills Youth and Community Project for their incredible generosity in purchasing a DJI Pocket 3 camera for our KISC trip.

This amazing piece of equipment will allow us to capture the adventure as it happens, from mountain hikes and international friendships to all the unforgettable moments that make Kandersteg such a special experience for our young people.

The footage collected during the trip will be professionally edited into a film of our expedition, which will be shown for one night only at a special ticketed event at New Mills Art Theatre. This will give family, friends, supporters, and the wider community the opportunity to experience our journey through the eyes of those taking part.

As a small token of our appreciation, all businesses and organisations that have supported our Kandersteg visit will receive complimentary access to the screening.

Yesterday our Explorers swapped the hills for the underground as they ventured into the historic Alderley Edge Copper Mines! ⛏️🪨

Led by the fantastic Derbyshire North West Scout Caving Team, our Explorers navigated winding tunnels, discovered the fascinating history of the ancient copper mines, and experienced the hidden beauty that lies beneath our feet. From learning about the miners who once worked there to exploring passages carved centuries ago, it was an unforgettable adventure.

A huge thank you to Derbyshire North awest Scout Caving Team for sharing their knowledge, enthusiasm, and expertise, and for giving our Explorers such a unique experience.

What a brilliant way to round off the year! This week Sett Valley Explorers gathered at to celebrate a year full of adventures, memories and laughs 🥂

We looked back on some cracking moments from the past year, enjoyed a lovely meal and swapped Secret Santa gifts 🎁

A lovely evening with a great bunch of people — feeling very festive and very grateful 🎅✨
