NELLI - New Earswick Less Loneliness Initiative

NELLI - New Earswick Less Loneliness Initiative NELLI is a community group who aim to reduce loneliness in New Earswick. We run a community cafe every Wednesday, 10-12, in the Discovery Room at the Folk Hall.

Please come & join us, enjoy drinks and cake with our welcoming group and make new friends. New Earswick Less Loneliness Initiative (NELLI) was set up in November 2010, to
participate in the Neighbourhood Approaches To Loneliness research by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust. JRF and JRHT launched the three year research program to explore the issues of loneliness.

This research involved training up a group of local people to identify the issues surrounding loneliness in their neighbourhoods and look at potential activity to address these. For further information;

We launched Café NELLI in 2013, as a community café, at the Folk Hall. Café NELLI is an informal social group, where people come to chat, socialise, and make new friends. We meet every Wednesday morning, 10:00 – 12:00, in the Eatery at the Folk Hall, with our community partners attending on a regular basis. These partners include Ocay and Health Watch. We also run NELLI munch, which meets once a month to eat lunch and enjoy good food and good company. The venue and date varies, so please get in touch if you would like to attend.

The NELLIs have had a lovely lunch at Pear Tree Farm. It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves.
