A while ago I posted a project idea and I’m so excited to announce that we have secured NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) funding with the help of BPR CVS for our Build Her Up project! 🩷

Build Her Up is about turning creativity into opportunity.
Through the project, women will have the chance to explore entrepreneurship, learn new creative and practical skills, develop their own products and discover how they could turn an idea into an income.

Using the equipment and resources available to us, we want women to experiment, design, make and actually see what they’re capable of creating.

But it’s not just about making products.
It’s about building confidence, independence, ambition and belief in your own ideas.

💡 Have an idea.
🎨 Design it.
🛠️ Make it.
💷 Learn how to sell it.
🚀 See where it could take you.

For some women, it might simply spark a new hobby. For others, it could be the beginning of a side income, self-employment or even their own little business.

A huge thank you to the ICB for funding Build Her Up and believing in the potential of women in our community.

Now it’s time to start building. 💪🩷

❤️ WE NEED OUR COMMUNITY’S HELP! ❤️

Pendle Makerspace and New Imp Studio are growing, and we want to keep making them better, more creative and more accessible for our community.

We’ve launched a GoFundMe to help us raise money for the things that actually make all of this possible — materials, tools and equipment.

Every sheet of wood or acrylic, every tin of paint, every piece of equipment and every new tool gives us the opportunity to offer more workshops, more projects and better experiences for the people who walk through our doors.

We want Pendle Makerspace to be somewhere you can come to learn something new, make something you’re proud of, try equipment you might never have access to at home and meet other creative people. 🎨🛠️

And we want New Imp Studio to continue developing into an amazing creative space for local musicians, young people, bands and artists. 🎸🥁

We’re building this for our community, so we’re asking our community to help us build it. ❤️

Even a few pounds genuinely helps. And if donating isn’t possible, sharing our fundraiser is just as valuable — it might reach somebody who can help.

🚐 MAN & VAN NEEDED – ONE-OFF COLLECTION 🚐

Can anyone help Pendle Makerspace with a collection of acrylic sheets from Lancaster and bring them back to us in Nelson this Saturday?

The sheets combined are quite heavy, so we need someone with a van who can safely transport them for us.

Today’s little laser project was a special one 💛

I made my son Ollie his very own Pokémon card — just look at that excited face! 🥹⚡️

We’re still getting to grips with our xTool P3, learning the different settings and experimenting with cutting and engraving different materials. There’s definitely a lot to learn, but every little project teaches us something new.

I think Ollie approves of this one! 😂

Our laser cutter is officially set up at Pendle Makerspace and we’ve made our very first cut!

Are we ridiculously excited about what we’re going to be able to make with it? YES!

Now comes the fun part — learning the software, testing different materials, figuring out speeds and power settings and seeing just what this machine can do!

🎸 WHAT IF YOU COULD BUILD YOUR OWN GUITAR? 🎸

We’ve been looking at what can be created using our laser cutter, and these guitar designs are a brilliant example of the possibilities.

Imagine being able to:
🎸 Design and cut parts for your own custom guitar
🔥 Engrave band logos, artwork and names
🎵 Make personalised guitar picks
🪧 Create band signs and stage décor
👕 Combine it with our merch equipment to build your whole band identity
💡 Turn your own ideas into actual products

You could rehearse upstairs at New Imp Studio, then head downstairs into Pendle Makerspace and MAKE something for your band.

That’s the community we’re building — giving local creatives access to equipment and opportunities to try things they might never normally get the chance to use.

And yes… we are absolutely going to have to try making a guitar. 🤘🎸

📣 WE’RE LOOKING FOR SPONSORS & LOCAL BUSINESS PARTNERS

Something pretty special is starting to happen at Pendle Makerspace and New Imp Studio.

We’re creating a place in Nelson where people can make, build, design, learn, create music and develop real practical skills — and the community is already getting involved.

Now we’d love some local businesses to be part of what we’re building.

We’re particularly interested in hearing from businesses in engineering, manufacturing, construction, technology, music and the creative industries, although we’d love to hear from anyone who believes in creating more opportunities locally.

Support doesn’t necessarily have to mean a big cheque either…

It could be:
