📍It is illegal to set off fireworks between the hours of 11pm and 7am, except on Bonfire Night, Diwali, New Year and Chinese New Year.

📍Fireworks should only be used on private property, such as a garden or yard, and must never be set off in public spaces.

📍It is an offence for anyone under the age of 18 to possess fireworks in public places and for anyone, apart from firework professionals, to have professional display fireworks.

📍The penalty is a fine of up to £5,000 and a prison sentence of up to six months.

A masked and faceless minority don’t speak for us.

This weekend, we saw ugly scenes of racism and intimidation directed at people seeking safety.

We refuse to let hatred and hostility define who we are.

Behind every headline is a child trying to reach family, a parent trying to keep their children safe, someone searching for safety.

And right now, their only option is a dangerous crossing - where thugs await them.

These people deserve to be met with dignity and compassion, not hatred.

And we need our government to lead by example: reject racism and division, defend people seeking safety, and create safe routes so families can reach safety and reunite.

Seeking safety is not a crime. There is no place for hate.
