🎸 BIG NEWS… LIVE MUSIC IS COMING TO NEW IMP STUDIO! 🎶

We’re really excited to finally share that New Imp Studio can now host live music! 🤘

And with that comes something new…

☕🎸 INTRODUCING JAM CAFÉ

Jam Café will be a relaxed place where live local music, good brews, creativity and community come together.

It could be an afternoon listening to local musicians, an evening session, or a weekend event. Grab a coffee, pull up a chair, meet people and enjoy some live music.
But we’re doing things a little differently.

🚫 NO ALCOHOL
🚫 NO DRUGS

We know people often associate live music with alcohol, but we want to show that it doesn't have to be part of the experience.
Everything we do is rooted in health, wellbeing, community and our work advocating against domestic abuse and violence against women and girls.

Alcohol doesn't cause domestic abuse and it is never an excuse for abusive behaviour. But alcohol can increase the risk or severity of violence in some situations, and for us, selling or promoting it simply doesn't sit comfortably with what we stand for.

So Jam Café will be somewhere the music is the buzz. 🎶

🎸 THE IMP ISN’T JUST FOR BANDS…

I’m a solo acoustic performer myself, and this is one of the things I absolutely love about the space.

You can practise at home. You can sit on the sofa with your guitar and run through the songs a hundred times.

But it’s not the same as performing.

At The Imp, I can get up on the stage, plug in, put the lights on and actually perform the songs rather than just rehearse them.

There’s something about standing under those lights, hearing your vocal and guitar properly through the PA and having that stage in front of you that makes you get into the music differently. 🎤🎸

You start thinking about how you move, how you introduce songs, where you look, when you interact with an audience — all those little things you simply can’t practise sat in your living room.

And for someone who might be preparing for their first open mic or first gig, that experience could make a massive difference to their confidence.
That’s what we wanted The Imp to be.

Not simply a room where bands rehearse…
A space where musicians perform.

Full band. Duo. Solo acoustic. Young musician picking up a guitar for the first time.

Get on the stage.
Put the lights on.
Turn it up.
And practise like it’s the real thing. 🤘

🎸🎂 COMING SOON — KIDS ROCK BAND BIRTHDAY EXPERIENCE! 🎂🎸

Birthday parties are about to get a LOT louder at New Imp Studio! 🤘

We’re putting together a birthday experience for kids who want something completely different from the usual party.
For their birthday, they’ll get to form their own band, choose their instruments, get up on a real stage and make some noise with their mates. 🥁🎸🎤

And because every band needs merch… they’ll also get to create their own band merchandise and pose for some proper rockstar photos. 📸🔥

No musical experience needed. This is about having fun, trying something new and getting the full “WE’RE IN A BAND!” experience.

☕️ COMING VERY SOON… THE BREWBOX CAFÉ! 🎸

Another piece of the puzzle is nearly ready at New Imp Studio & Makers Space.

Thanks to the help of the community 💪

The Brewbox Café — a proper little community café where everyone is welcome. ❤️

For our bands, the café will be open when you're rehearsing, so you can grab a brew, get a quick snack and chill before, during or after your session.

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built, but even more excited about where this could go and the plans we already have.

From day one, the most important thing for me was creating somewhere that felt REAL.

Not just another room with four walls, a couple of amps and a drum kit.

We wanted somewhere musicians actually want to be.

And so far, every band that has walked through our doors has booked to come back. Long may that continue! 🤘

We’re a non-profit CIC, so we rely on noise on that stage. Quite literally, the music pays the bills.

We don't make money from doing this. For me, it's a hobby that's turned into a bit of a dream come true. Every penny we make goes straight back into the space — more equipment, better facilities and more improvements.

So hopefully, every time you come back, there'll be something new.

Seeing teenagers get up on that stage with guitars, keyboards, violins, harmonicas and whatever else they can get their hands on is incredible.

Then having well-established bands come through the doors and give us compliments like this one...
That's my payment.

Well, that and the odd free rehearsal. Don't judge me — I think I've earned that. 😂🎸
