Last week, we had a lovely welcome to the EPIC Dad Lego Club.

This is held every Tuesday at Newmarket Library, facilitated by Epic Dad founder Rich Keeble. This is such a popular event and was a joy to attend.

You can learn more about the excellent role of the Epic Dad – Father and Families Project here: https://www.epicdad.co.uk

This also gave us a great chance to speak about our current project - Best Start Family Voice Network in Suffolk. Working with Suffolk County Council, we are building a network of local parents to share real experiences of support from pregnancy through to early childhood.

Happy Volunteers' Week - a big thank you to every person who has volunteered their time to support our work. Volunteers give so much to our organisation, providing critical local support 🩷

We've heard how volunteering is important to one of our Co-production Ambassadors - Anetta Bradshaw:

"I have been so blessed by my volunteering and gained many skills. Those skills helped me to setup a CIC group and when my career role came to an end, I had gained the confidence to start my own business. Volunteering is able to give a quality and value to your life, especially knowing you've helped others"

Why not give volunteering a try? It's a great way to stay active, social and independent. Here's some links that might help:

We had a lovely sunny day at the Suffolk Show last week! ☀️

We got to meet lots of interesting stall holders and members of the public (including this very sweet dog who was interested in hearing about our latest projects!)

Don't forget, we are currently keen to understand people’s experiences of choosing a care home, more information can be found here: https://knowingworks.co.uk/choosingacarehome/

We are also working on building a network of local parents to share real experiences of support from pregnancy through to early childhood, more information for this can be found here: https://knowingworks.co.uk/bsfv-network/

A few weeks back we visited STEEL BONES at one of their Amputee Family Coffee Meet Ups at The Suffolk Cafe Park Farm, Business Centre, Bury St Edmunds. ☕️

Thank you to the group facilitator Chris for the warm welcome!

This group offers such valuable peer and social support. People generously shared their stories with us and we were able to offer signposting to services offering support.

‘Your Space’ is a free and welcoming monthly drop-in session for family carers of veterans and for veterans who care for someone themselves. These sessions are ran by Suffolk Family Carers

The next session in Sudbury is on Thursday 4th June at Sudbury Arts Centre, St Peter's, Market Hill, Sudbury, CO10 2EA 📍

You can book a place here: https://suffolkfamilycarers.org/carers-resources/self-help/peer-support/yourspace-veterans-community-family-carer-groups/

These sessions are monthly, held at different locations around Suffolk. They offer the opportunity to speak with a trained advisor, who not only understands family carer issues but also
the unique experiences and challenges associated with Armed Forces life.

The group also provides an opportunity for family carers to connect with others in similar situations, helping to reduce isolation and build supportive relationships within the community.
