During a heatwave, itโ€™s easy to overlook the needs of bees โ€” but extreme temperatures can seriously impact their wellbeing and survival.

Hot, dry conditions can reduce nectar flow, dry out water sources and put added stress on colonies as they work harder to regulate hive temperatures.

Simple ways to help:

* Provide shallow water sources for hydration
* Avoid disturbing hives during peak heat
* Ensure shaded areas are available where possible
* Be mindful of pesticide use in hot weather

Small actions can make a big difference in protecting pollinators during extreme heat.

On Bee Day, we are continuing to highlight some of the fantastic partners helping to support pollinators, biodiversity and environmental awareness through meaningful action.

Todayโ€™s spotlight is on Cuprinol, who we have proudly worked alongside on campaigns designed to help people better understand how they can transform outdoor spaces into more bee-friendly environments.
Together, we have promoted practical ways to support pollinators through gardens, community spaces and biodiversity-led outdoor improvements โ€” including the use of colour, planting and habitat-focused design inspired by the Cuprinol Garden Shades range.

Cuprinol are also proud owners of their own beehive, further demonstrating their commitment to sustainability, biodiversity and protecting pollinators for the future.

We have loved collaborating with the team on projects that combine creativity, education and environmental responsibility to inspire positive change.

On , weโ€™re celebrating the power of partnership in driving meaningful change for both people and planet.

Todayโ€™s spotlight is on Bute Energy Wales, whose collaboration with Bee1 is helping support Walesโ€™ transition to a cleaner, greener future by connecting renewable energy development with biodiversity protection and pollinator conservation.

Together, we are combining onshore wind innovation with practical environmental action โ€” including a Bute Energy-branded beehive housing 20,000 bees โ€” reinforcing a shared commitment to sustainability and long-term ecological health.

A key focus of the partnership is also inspiring and empowering women and girls to pursue careers in renewable energy, using the queen bee as a symbol of leadership and resilience.

Partnerships like this show what can be achieved when innovation, education and environmental responsibility come together with a shared purpose.

On World Bee Day, we are proud to continue showcasing some of the incredible organisations helping to support pollinators, biodiversity and environmental education through meaningful collaboration.

Todayโ€™s spotlight is on the FA Wales, who we have been delighted to work alongside on initiatives focused on biodiversity, grassroots engagement and creating greater awareness around sustainability within communities across Wales.

Through our partnership, we have explored how football and environmental responsibility can come together to inspire positive action โ€” helping connect fans, young people and local communities with nature and pollinator protection.

Collaborations like this demonstrate the important role major organisations can play in supporting biodiversity recovery and encouraging long-term environmental awareness.

Thank you to the FAW team for being part of the journey and helping us continue important conversations around biodiversity, sustainability and protecting pollinators across Wales.

On , we are proud to be profiling some of the incredible partners we work with to help protect bees, pollinators and biodiversity across Wales. ๐Ÿ

Todayโ€™s spotlight is dedicated to the Wales Millennium Centre - Canolfan Mileniwm Cymru, who continue to champion sustainability and environmental engagement through their own on-site beehives and biodiversity initiatives.

We have loved working alongside the team and volunteer beekeepers, supporting projects that help connect communities with nature while creating safe and thriving environments for pollinators.

Partnerships like this show how organisations can make a real difference through practical action, education and long-term commitment to biodiversity.

Happy World Bee Day from everyone at Bee1.

Happy World Bee Day from everyone at Bee1!

For us, World Bee Day is basically Christmas Day. Itโ€™s a moment to celebrate the incredible role bees play in our communities, our environment and our future. Bees teach us so much about teamwork, sustainability, resilience and the importance of protecting nature for generations to come.

Today is also about recognising the amazing organisations and partners we are proud to work alongside on a wide range of beekeeping, biodiversity and sustainability initiatives, including FA Wales, Wales Millennium Centre - Canolfan Mileniwm Cymru, Welsh hospitals, schools, Bute Energy Wales, Cuprinol and Institute of Directors) to name just a few.

This week marks Mental Health Awareness Week, and at Bee1 weโ€™re proud to champion the powerful connection between wellbeing, nature and beekeeping. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿง

Spending time around bees and green spaces encourages mindfulness, reduces stress, and helps people reconnect with the natural world in a meaningful way. From the calming rhythm of the hive to the sense of purpose and teamwork beekeeping inspires, the benefits go far beyond honey production.

We work with organisations, businesses and managed spaces to create engaging experiences that promote wellbeing, spark conversation and bring people closer to nature through the wonderful world of bees.

At a time when workplace wellbeing has never been more important, we believe even small moments spent connecting with nature can make a big difference.

We just love this video of our founder Mark Douglas out beekeeping, celebrating our fantastic partnership between Bee1 and Cuprinol

๐ŸŽจTogether, weโ€™re championing a campaign to help get Britainโ€™s gardens painted in pollinator-friendly colours โ€” creating spaces that not only look great but actively support bees and other vital wildlife.

Itโ€™s all about making small changes that have a big impact.
