During a heatwave, itโs easy to overlook the needs of bees โ but extreme temperatures can seriously impact their wellbeing and survival.
Hot, dry conditions can reduce nectar flow, dry out water sources and put added stress on colonies as they work harder to regulate hive temperatures.
Simple ways to help:
* Provide shallow water sources for hydration
* Avoid disturbing hives during peak heat
* Ensure shaded areas are available where possible
* Be mindful of pesticide use in hot weather
Small actions can make a big difference in protecting pollinators during extreme heat.
