There’s something I don’t talk about lightly… but it matters.
For many survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence, the hardest part isn’t just what happened — it’s what happens after.
Feeling disconnected from your own body.Losing confidence.Struggling to put things into words, even in therapy.Feeling like you’re stuck in your head… or stuck in the trauma you’ve opened up.
I’ve been there.
Talking therapy helped me, but I found that after sessions I was often left sitting in everything I’d just uncovered. It felt heavy, overwhelming. What helped me move through that wasn’t more medication or more talking — it was movement.
Exercise became my way of releasing what words couldn’t.I’d put sessions back-to-back — therapy, then training — so I could process, shift, and regulate what I was feeling instead of carrying it.
Because trauma doesn’t just live in the mind — it lives in the body and the nervous system.
When your nervous system is dysregulated for a long time, it can show up as:– anxiety and depression– exhaustion and burnout– physical illness– isolation and withdrawal– or even repeating patterns that keep you stuck in unsafe situations
This is where movement can be powerful.
At Nantwich Community Fitness Hub, what we offer is more than fitness.
It’s a safe, supportive space to gently reconnect with your body.To start regulating your nervous system again. To rebuild strength — physically and mentally. To be around other women who understand, support, and lift each other up.
You don’t have to do it in a group if that feels too much — I also offer 1-1 personal training, where everything is tailored to you, at your pace, in a space that feels safe.
This isn’t about pushing harder or looking a certain way. It’s about rebuilding. It’s about feeling like yourself again — or meeting yourself for the first time in a long time.
The goal is simple:To help you create a life where you feel stronger, safer, and supported.Where you’re surrounded by people who genuinely care.Where your body feels like a place you can come home to.
If this resonates with you, you’re not alone — and you don’t have to do it alone either.
