Congratulations to both Jake Newlands & Ali Mcpherson from our U18s who were part of the first teams Cup final success against Clach yesterday.
Although both never got on they have regularly been involved most weeks and what a great experience for them both to be involved in such a massive game as the North of Scotland Cup Final.
Both have worked their way up through our Youth Development which is fantastic to see. Hopefully this wil inspire more boys now they can see the pathway to the first team is there.
Well done boys 🟡🟤⚽️

Forres found themselves 2-0 down in the opening 10 minutes, but quickly recovered and went into HT 5-2 up.
Balloan Athletic didn't help themselves having a player given a straight red card in the opening minutes of the second half. The young Mechanics took full advantage and added another 5 second half goals with new signing Fabian Piotrowski grabbing an impressive hat-trick.🟡🟤⚽️

Our U18s put in a clinical performance through in Nairn at a blustery astro pitch. Despite playing into the wind the Young Cans raced into a 4 nil lead with some superb football and well taken goals. Nairn pulled a goal back just before half time when they latched onto defensive error.
Into the second half and the game was more even and was played out in the middle of the park with very little chances until Ben Cruickshank slotted the rebound off of a Kieran Hayller shot to make it 5-1. Nairn pulled 2 goals back in the last 10 minutes to make it 5-3. Forres went straight up the park and were awarded a penalty which Ben Ross sent the keeper the wrong way to make it 6-3. In the final 2 minutes Riley Adam got in on the scoring when he was first to react in the 6 yard box and tucked his shot under the keeper he then completed the scoring when he waltzed into the box unchallenged and blasting his shot low into the net.🟡🟤⚽️

FORRES MECHANICS 3 DINGWALL 2

Drew Noble ⚽️
Jake Newlands ⚽️
Kieran Hayller ⚽️

Our U18s earned a hard fought win against an impressive Dingwall side at Logie Park on Sunday.
Dingwall opened the scoring in controversial style when their striker Lewis Campbell hit a shot from the edge of the box which crashed off the underside of the bar and looked to have bounced down onto the goal line but the assistant referee signalled goal. Oh for VAR 😂
Forres battled back and drew level after some great work down the right between Bailey Stephen and Kieran Hayller who cut in and fired a low shot which was saved by the Dingwall keeper who dived full length to stop the shot but was unlucky as the ball fell to Drew Noble's feet who had the simplest of tasks to slot the rebound into the empty net. Then in the 41st minute The Cans took the lead when Jake Newlands picked up the ball in the middle of the park and he powered towards the Dingwall goal beating 3 challenges before unleashing a low shot from 20 yards out which found the corner of the net. Great strike 👏
Into the second half and both teams continued to create chances and it was Dingwall who equalised when they caught Forres napping with a quick break down the left and a great through ball found Seamus Henderson in the Forres box who cooly slotted his shot into the opposite corner of the net. The winning goal came in fine style when Kieran Hayller received the ball from a quickly taken free kick 25 yards out who then unleashed an unstoppable shot which flew into the top corner . Dingwall pressed for an equaliser but found Jack Millican making his debut in goal for the u18s in inspired form with a couple of brilliant saves to earn Forres a win.🟡🟤⚽️
Thanks again to Forres Thistle for the use of their facilities.

LOSSIEMOUTH 1 FORRES MECHANICS 2

Fraser Masson 27
Robbie McTurk 71

Our u18s came away from Grant Park with a hard fought win against Lossiemouth.
Forres took a first half lead in the 27th minute when Fraser Masson was first to react inside the six yard box from a corner with the simplest of tap ins. The Lossiemouth goalkeeper denied Kieran Hayller with a wonder point blank save from his powerful header.
HT 0-1
Into the second half and both teams huffed and puffed cancelling each other out until Lossiemouth drew level with a wonder strike from outside the box.
Forres eventually regained the lead when Robbie McTurk was on hand to meet a Kieran Hayller cross after he had brilliantly drove into the box and
Forres could have added to their score when the Lossiemouth keeper brought down Ben Cruickshank in the box but redeemed himself when he dived low to his left to tip Jake Newlands penalty around the post.
Not a classic but 3 hard earned points.in the bag.🟡🟤⚽️
